Dryer not drying
I am sure this has been discussed before but it is worth repeating as it is a very common problem.
We have the Splendide 2100xc combo washer/dryer. After about a year of full time camping the dryer performance really dropped off. I checked the vent from dryer to outside and it was fairly clean. I was fairly sure it was the heat element until I saw a video on the hose INSIDE of the unit. Sure enough after considerable effort I was able to remove some wet lint from that hose and now the dry cycle works fine again. Suggestion: use one of the throw away drain uncloggers to get the lint out.
This is a design flaw if you ask me since the hose has two 90 degree turns in it and it is fairly easy for the lint to get wet. It would have been far better for the vent to straight out of the dryer!
I do have a question though. Getting good air flow to the outside of the camper but the metal "periscope" I use for clearance on the back wall behind dryer gets so hot you can't hold your hand on it. Is that normal and should I be concerned about a potential fire hazard? I was thinking about maybe putting a fireboard for protection back there?
