3 unit towing ?

Guys I want to tow a small trailer behind my monty with my golf cart. I cant seem to get a strait answer about it I have talked to the scdot, highway patrol, state transport police and cked on the web and have been told it was legal and not legal. I dont get the same answer from anybody. I see some on here towing boats and other things. do any of you folks know if this is Illegal or where to find out for sure. I have friends doing it now and they have never been stopped. I would love to take my cart camping with me. hey!! maybe I am thinking to much. thanks bobby
