Solar vendor at rallys

This post is for the Montana Fall Rally folks. Has anyone going to the rally thought about getting a local vendor from that area to put on a presentation having to do with Solar systems in Rv's. The linked company is local and does in installations and is very close to Goshen I believe. I think it would be nice to have a vendor put a package together that was made of quality equipment that had a price in $2000 range.. This year at the Jackson Rally I talked to a vendor that was right down the road from the rally and he said he would of liked to do a presentation in the club while we were there. It did not happen this year but I will contact him earlier next time we are going to Jackson. This might be a thought for future rally's but just wanted to put the idea out there.

Next thing might be a survey on who would attention one of these if they were at a rally? And if you have a solar system installed would you also go?
I know a lot of people do not dry camp but you need to try it..
I know the fist one that posts is going to say you do it.... I think it would be great if a Goshen area Montana owner could walk into their shop and have the numbers of members attending and that would go along way with the vendor.. Besides I already have my system installed and cannot improve on it very much..

2 grand would be a pretty small system when you consider the cost of inverter, controller and some batteries, depending of course on what someone was trying to accomplish.

I agree Dick. But I was trying to figure what the average person would spend on a smaller system. When you think about it a lot of folks are willing to spend $4,500 on a system to make it easier to level their trailer. I also do not know how many people from out east would like to try dry camping.

FWIW, we had solar installed at Quartzsite a few years ago, for $ 1,000 or thereabouts, out the door. It consists of a single 135 watt panel, with a wiring option to add another, but it has been entirely adequate for our needs.

Another interesting topic and one the Wagon Master team has discussed.
We will be getting together next week and will do some research to see if we can come up with something for this year's Rally.

In the meantime, if you are interested in this type of a presentation please reply to this topic so we can determine interest.

Thank you,

Steve & Sharon Bischoff/Wagon Masters

Bish, thanks for looking into it as I have shown my system to quite a few people and a lot have said they like the idea but get nowhere in reaching a system for themselves. It does look like there are suppliers close by that should jump on this opportunity..

Solar is on my list to cut down on generator/propane use while boon-docking. Having a list of proven quality parts and an ideaof what I should pay for them would be very beneficial to me. Big problem is making it to a rally while still having to put in forty hrs.

Just a suggestion, Furrion is now supplying all of the backup cameras and the solar outlet. I know they sell small portable solar panels. Maybe they could give a talk and demo (and perhaps sell a discounted panel)?

A presentation on ELECTRONIC LOCKS would be great or retrofitting an electronic awning??
Speaking of retrofitting - how about adding an electronic FIREPLACE- anchoring, etc
Thanks

We'd be interested in talking to an expert about solar systems.
