How do you get oxygen refills traveling?

A few of you know that Bob (HoboBob) has COPD.

After his last episode in July, it was recommended he have oxygen available to use when his oxygen went below 90. Perhaps that will assist him to keep from riding in helicopters or ambulances!!!

What are some of your experiences or your friends experience?

Our supplier rep had no idea or experience in this area. Thank you!

Should be no problem getting refills. Just have to check for local suppliers. The local pharmacies would be a good source of info. My dad had O2 and was NP getting refills while he traveled.

Mynabird, you should be able to get refills at Lincare http://www.lincare.com/customers-vis...ocationmap.cfm they have a list of place all around the states. I have never thought about this situation so thanks for bring it up. I am sure their are a few folks on MOC that require this service. You might want to check with your local welding supply store to see if most of them have the refills you would need. I am sure it is on an exchange basis.

I would think that any home health agency could set this up for you. the Doctor's office should be able to direct you to the right person. There are nationwide homehealth agencies and they work with agencies across the nation

Stop at a Fire House and talk to them, they are real good to talk to and will help any way they can.

Fire companies don't use straight O2, we just use compressed air in our airpacks, the OP needs oxygen I believe.

Thank you MOC Family.

This is new to us especially since we are full-timers and do like to move/travel a bit. (at least before getting the oxygen & the current pulmonary respiratory therapy). So we appreciate all the help we can get.

Remember - if you are a smoker .... Quit!!!! PLEASE!!!

I would check into using an O2 concentrator. It will supply up to 4 liters and only requires an electrical source.

We use liquid oxygen, and have two tanks. kind of a pain sometimes, but Judi uses the "marathon" and can go around anywhere for about 7 hours on one fill up....heck, that's more than my Dodge !
We are looking into a concentrator....she had one before, and it's ok until you want to leave the rig for a trip to the store or wherever. There are other smaller portable units we are looking into, but the fact is they weigh in at around 15 lbs. average...that ain't portable to me.
The liquid comes from lincare, and they have facilities all over the country. Whatever you do, understand that the main reservoir when filled weighs a LOT....the lincare guy has always come to our rig to fill it, and has helped put it back into the closet.

I have seen portable battery concentrators that might be workable.
