New Glasses in Algodones?

I think I am going to need a new pair glass after I visit the Ophthalmologist next month. Anyone have any experience with getting new glasses in Algodones?

We have for the past several years. I am on my 3rd set. Carol had to get cataracts removed and she talked to eye dr about them. He checked them on his machine and said he couldn,t find anything wrong and gave us perscriptions to take down. He said they were fine. I know that some will say don't buy there but we are satisfied and dental alos

Last year Sallie bought some real nice frames in Algadonas and had her perscription filled at home. She saved a lot on the frames, infact the lab at home had the exact same frames for aabout three times the price she paid.

I ordered eyeglasses from http://www.zennioptical.com/# last year, and have been very pleased with them. Titanium frames and progressive lenses. $82 shipped to my address. Very pleased. In fact, I accidentally set on them; just knew they were history, but the arms straightened right out.

Grant,
My DW has bought her glasses at Algodones Optical for years. They do alright for the price. No complaints from her.

Since decrease in our insurance coverage we lost our eye glass coverage. I called our eye dr. and the receptionist told me that their greatest competitor is BJ's or Walmart. We took our prescription to BJ's and it was 1/4 what we would pay at the eye drs. $100.00 for progressive, anti scratch, vifocals, 2 year warranty. 1st of the year they run specials. Walmart about the same price. Not a lot of choices for frames but plenty to pick from. We where 100% satisfied. Also you do not have to be a member to use thier eye glass services.

i have bought glasses there, and had mixed results. One pair was OK, and the other one (sunglasses) was off just a little. I didn't notice the sunglasses were off until the trip home, when it was too late to get them replaced. I use Doctor's Vision Works here in Denver, and find that the glasses are about the same price, and they're five blocks away if I have a problem.

Sorry, I can't really recommend Los Algodones as a place to buy glasses.

We have been doing business at Los Algodones Optical for 10 years- Always satisfied with their product and service- We also have our dental work done in Los Algodones- Very satisfied with the outcome and the PRICE- We also buy prescription drugs there- As retired seniors, we appreciate the savings and love not paying US prices for product and services of equal quality- A passport is required for re-entry to the US- We feel very safe in Los Algodones and the food is GREAT!!! JMHO!!! Don

Hey Grant, we purchase our eye glasses in Algodones all the time now. So much cheaper. If you like, give us a jingle when you get down this way, we live about 1/2 hour from the border and would be happy to take you down there for a "tour" and help you find a good eye doctor and glasses shop.

Take care,

Joy & Mel

A Hint. Whenever you buy new glasses, you should ALWAYS take them to your Ophthamologist to get them checked. Even reputable optical shops can make a small error from time to time. I have had this happen twice over the years and had to have the glasses remade. Problems is that small errors are hard to detect until it's too late.....

Joy & Mel,
I will be talking to you when we get down there. I would like to get at least a spare set of glasses in Algadones.
Jack

Finally, got the eye checks done yesterday. Doctor said that after three years a new prescription for reading glass was in order. So, I guess we will be visiting Algodones. I assume that it is a little less crowded before Q rather than after Q.

Mel & Joy, I will give you a call once we have some idea of when we will be done that way. We are looking forward to a tour with the "locals". :-)
