Bowling Green, Kentucky

Our daughter has just informed us they are moving to Bowling Green in the next few months. I know absolutely nothing about the area other than Corvettes are built there having spent the majority of my life in the northwest. Can anybody tell me when is a good time of the year to visit there? Also what is the rv park situation? Any help will be appreciated.

Bowling green is, or was, the original start up place for camping world, when I was stationed there in the Marines in the mid 80's. Mammoth caves just north of the corvette museum, access to horse racing south of the city, and an hour north of Nashville. Bowling green is a large town, and has all the features of many places. Camping, you will just have to look it up. If it says cave city, horse cave, park city, or Glasgow, then it will be about a half hour north of the city. Franklin is about half hour south. If I remember right, should be camping facilities at Beech bend, which is camping worlds home spot, and a KOA right outside greenwood mall which is the first bowling green exit. Just watch your exits, as many toll roads intersect at bowling green and Glasgow.
I liked the town when I was there from 84 to 87, but spent most of my time in the very rural parts trying to recruit. Town is a heck of a lot bigger now, than then. Home of western NY university.

If hot and humid are not your favorite I would avoid the summertime there

I stayed at Cave Country RV Park. It wasn't bad. I think big sites but flat, no trees (maybe gravel driveways).

Tried to find the KOA there once, never did find it so went on down the road to one of the cave exits. Be careful you don't end up in middle earth, a big chunk of the Corvette museum is gone via a sinkhole. They lost a bunch of classic Vets last week there.

Thank you all for the help. Not sure I want to pull the rig back there but I may have to since flying these days holds no appeal for me at all. Used to enjoy it but with ll the restrictions etc. it's no longer fun.

We always enjoyed Beechbend Family Campground because it has an amusement park for the kids and a dragstrip and oval track for us. I don't know if they have any night races but the days can be noisy on the weekend.
