Pahrump, NV to Castaic Junction, CA

We will be leaving Pahrump on Dec. 27 travelling to Castaic Junction and will be seeing the Rose Parade and many other attractions with the Escapees. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a route once we enter California. How about highways 18, 138 & 14. Would this be good for a trailer or is there a better way?

That way will work, are you going to be staying at the park off the 126 in Castaic Junction? If so, when you are on the 14 fwy, you need to take the 5 fwy north to the 126 hwy. after getting on the 126 the campground is just down the road a mile or so on the left.

Charlie,

I would suggest: NV-372, CA-127, I-15, CA-58, CA-14, I-5. This route is about 20 miles further than 138 but, it has less traffic and more 4 lane road. CA-138 is almost all 2 lane road. This is the route we took in November.

Unless you are meeting the Escapees in Castaic you want to consider California RV Resort in Acton. It is 9 miles further from Pasadena than Castaic but a nicer newer park. http://www.calrv.com/

I assume you are currently at the SKP COOP in Pahrump. We are planning to go there next weekend so we will just miss you. Are there are a number of open sites?

Thanks for the help. We are staying at the park on hwy 126 with the escapees as this is part of the tour package. All we have to do is pull in and park our rigs and everything we do the next 5 days is by bus.

Grant,
We are at the Western Horizons park at the winery. We took a drive to the SKP park yesterday and they had spaces available, nobody in boondock
