ge fridge ice maker not working

I have a 2021 Montana HC with a GE fridge. I just dewinterized and of course didn't turn the valve in the cabinet next to the fridge on to allow water to the fridge. Also I got a warning light to replace filter in fridge. I turned the valve with no water coming to the fridge. Replaced existing water filter and low and behold I have water coming out of the water dispenser, but no ice maker making ice. I haver read there is a reset button in the Samsung refers but I cannot find one in this GE ice maker... Anyone have a clue?

If you winterized with air it might take a couple of cycles to get the air out of the line? Also check to make sure the on-off switch on the ice maker unit is slid fully to on and the paddle moves forward? Those are just guesses. And just a fwiw, I always run the trailer on the water pump for the first full day after dewinterizing, if the pump runs intermittently for no reason, probably a leak somewhere.
There is no cycle button on the bottom of the ice maker on our GE’s like the Samsung. Good luck.

To make the ice maker cycle, press the arm three times. You should be able to see the it cycle through to dispense ice and refill. I did have the inlet to the ice maker freeze once also.

Thanks for the tip on pressing the arm 3 times, we’ll give it a try next time!

How did you unfreeze the inlet without emptying the freezer and letting it thaw out.H

Try a hair dryer aimed at the inlet. Tube is usually just frozen at the ice maker. In my case the square that funnels water into the tray was blocked with ice. After a couple of minutes, I was able to remove the ice and the tube opened. I haven’t had a problem since.

the moving of the paddle three times did the trick. I now have a working ice maker. Where did you learn of this trick? I couldn't find it in the manual... Thanks for the tip.

After he posted that, I searched it. It’s in the ice maker manual available on line. Look up ge ice maker IM4D.
This forum rocks.

I couldn’t remember the source, so thanks. I’ll file that with my manuals for the next time it comes up.

Agree that it would be difficult to troubleshoot all the systems without this forum.

I just went through the exact same thing after dewinterizing. Followed the actions discussed in this thread and it worked like a charm (new water filter from Home Depot, and reset the ice maker using the steps provided). It took both steps to get it to work. It is handy having this forum to help us out!
