Repair underbelly

I have a slit in the underbelly that I have tried to repair with duct tape than gorilla tape. Neither have lasted very well.
I know others have experienced this problem and wondering what worked for you. Thx

most rv dealers have rolls of choroplast, can likely buy a new piece to size needed to fix it.

gorilla tape has always worked for me...sorry.

I would think Gorilla Tape would work quite well. You may just need to clean the contact area well with some rubbing alcohol.

If it is a random rip - I would put eternabond on it. That stuff will stick forever. The stuff I have is not the Eternabond name brand but it is the same basic product...micro seal flashing. The stuff I have is white vinyl on the outer surface. If might spray paint it black if i did not like the white stripe on my coroplast.

Used tape similar to eternabond. After cleaning off old tape and adhesive I resealed with the new tape. Coroplast is the same material that plastic signs are made out of. I bought a size large enough to cover my new repair and will install it tomorrow.

What I did on my underbelly repair was to along both sides of the split and use a leather hole punch and punched holes about 3 to 4 inches apart and insert a zip tie and pull it tight and cut off the extra, then with black duct tape covered the cut in the underbelly. The zip tie keep the split together and the duct tape keeps out moisture.

I have several access holes cut into my coroplast. They were taped up 5 years ago with gorilla tape and it has not budged. In fact just last week I had to remove some to open up a hole to do some work in there. The tape was quite difficult to get off. Before you apply the tape, make sure the area is cleaned off well with alcohol first.

Scrim tape is what most professionals use to seal the underbelly.

I use Zip Tape you can buy on Amazon it will stick for years to Coroplast

Bottom board repair tape. I use it never had a problem. Same stuff on bottom of my kitchen slide on 2017 381th. I wipe down good then put the tape on. It looks real thin but is water proof for sure.

I had the same thing happen about 10 years ago on a Newmar American Star. I had success with 8 lb fishing line and curved upholstery needle. It took an investment of time, getting the stitches close and tight, but held up well.

On previous travel trailers that had that fabric material with fiberglass insulation on the other side, I used stove pipe aluminum tape. That stuff sticks and if you don't get it right the first time, there's no second chance. I do have Eternabond I've used on more viable areas too. But that stove pipe aluminum tape is just plain relentless. Find it at any home improvement store in the stove pipe section.

I think this is what the factory uses. Use .ca for Canada, .com for USA

It would be more work, but you could drop the covering and use eternabond tape on the top side. That will hold the split together and keep out moisture. Plus it would be invisible under the RV.

Had an emergency repair, we used outdoor silicone caulk and cut a patch from signs "same material" and held it place with a 2x4 overnight. Completely sealed for years now.
