New Wannabes

Hi, All
Been lurking here for a while now, learning a lot from the accumulated wisdom here, so we thought we should finally join. We're still in the learning and looking mode, and have purchased neither truck nor trailer (yet). We haven't committed to a Montana yet, but are currently strongly leaning that way.

Thanks to everyone for making this resource available!

Oh - I so feel for you. At least you found this site first. We looked a year. Buy the rig that meets your usage.

The folks here can really help.

Good learning!

The only thing to remember is that this is the place folks come when they need help on an issue. While there are thousands of members here we seldom post how happy we are with our Montana. All brands, even the high dollar ones, tend to have construction issues at times.

Welcome to the forum. DQDick hit the nail on the head with his statement. From my owner experience, I would recommend a Montana to any interested buyer.

I was like you, a lurker. I learned a ton before buying truck and Montana 2955RL. This is the best site around to learn about Montana's. I am a happy Montana owner!

Al - hopefully you picked up in some of the postw - research the dealer almost more than the manufacturer - the dealer location I used would be suggested to avoid. Where as on a trip, I need warranty work and a sister location was wonderful.

Food for Thought

I strongly recommend you pick the RV first then buy the truck that meets the load requirements. FAR to many people but a F250 or 2500 series truck then buy a monster rig that needs to be puled with a F350 or 3500 series truck. This comes form experience as I bought an F250 to pull my first two rigs then when out and bought a rig that needed an F350. The difference in price between the two trucks is not all that much and if I had thought I would have bought the 1 ton. But I didn't so I was able to spend $51,000 for the 250 and then $65,000 for the 350. Just doing my part to keep Ford in business.

Since you've done the F250 and F350 - - is there much ride difference between the two without the rig?

I bought a 2016 F250 to pull the 2016 Cougar 5er. Then my wife said we HAD to have the 2017 Montana so here came the F350. I did not notice any difference in the ride. My wife says only when going over the speed bumps at the grocery store lot.
