Generator enclosure.

I’m installing the lp genset so I found the stand and enclosure on trekwood along with the wiring harness. It’s almost $500 for all of it. Problem is the stand and enclosure will cost $700 just to ship. I’m trying to find some sort of alternative. Push come to shove if I need to order I will. Trying figure out a route that’s a little less expensive.... thoughts ..?

Got mine from my selling dealer. I would check with all the dealers in your area I would also check with Oman/Cummins directly.

Whenever it comes to purchasing add-on's, accessories, or replacement parts, I always FIRST go to my local dealership that sells Keystone products. We have 2 I use, the one we purchased our Montana From and the other one (closer) that sell the Alpine line.

Meanwhile, I always check with them first and get their prices. They are excellent at giving me the bottom dollar amount and if shipping charges are involved. And several times, I thanked them for the information, did my own research, and found out their offer was better and more convenient. I'd then turn around and order from them. And we're not talking just the $5.00 plumbing connection or a $30 Sail Switch for the furnace, or an anode rod for the water heater. I talking awning replacements, generators and parts for things like the stove and back-up/observation camera.

Before going on a wild goose chase, at least take a few minutes and contact your local dealership and see where they can assist you. If they are any good at all, they will, and they will try to give you the best financial offer they can.

Then, if comparing to your own research, you find a better offer, go with your findings. Nothing lost except some time, and everything to gain, especially savings and tech support if you have problems or run into issues.

Called my local keystone repair site which is not CW lol, but talking to the guy I already knew I’m 1100-1200 into this for parts and shipping. He had a cheaper price for the parts, and even said they have a local company for the enclosure. I thought what the heck might as well see what their install cost is too since I already purchased the 6500. Hopefully I’ll know today but I’m thinking it would be more cost effective for them to do it then for me to just get the parts plus shipping. The dealer couldn’t quote me freight shipping he would need to look into it.

Last2die, I'm following your project. I'm interested in getting a generator so it would allow us to dry camp. I love these projects.

Seems pretty straight forward I guess until it isn’t. Lol. Everything is ordered except the exhaust gas lines and fittings. Good thing is if I need something welded my neighbor welds. Not sure if I need additional supports until I get the stand and place the genset in. Learn as I go !!

Bartman, if you are not doing a whole bunch of dry camping I would look into the Harbor Freight 3500 watt Predator and keep it in the back of your truck. That is what I have and it works great and does not use much fuel either.

If you are already looking at the convenience and capacity of an onboard don't settle for anything less. If the device meets your needs then the convenience outways the inconvenience of make shift solutuions.

Well I can say for us it was all about convenience. Having carried 2 HF 3500 for years I just got tired of carrying extra fuel and the issues I had last trip. I just want to go into my in command app and start it !! I swapped about 240lbs of generators and gas for 300lbs of lp genset. Once I’m done hope it all works lol

Yup. Holding off on another ac unit until we can test that out. Driving whiling cooling the unit is huge for us during summer.

My HC 310RE came with the gen. prep. and I took the base and enclosure out to get more use out of the front storage comp. I would be willing to trade it for a good 200 watt portable solar set up. To big to economically ship but I am in SW NM near I-10 for pick up. PM me if interested.
