Surging

We have a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel, 6.5’ bed with a Pull-Rite super slider hitch. Pulling a 2019 Keystone Montana 3120RL. We are getting a push-pull when towing over hilly road. I say it’s normal and okay, but the wife is worrying something isn’t right. Anything to worry about?

Are you getting noise as you stop or accelerate? If so, the hitch may need an adjustment.

If there was slack in the slider, you would get some noise with it. Assuming it has always felt this way, you are probably OK but might be worth getting someone to ride with you that has experience to assess.

If there is no noise it's probably normal. Afterall there is a lot of weight back there. Just make sure the bolt on the cab end of the hitch is tight.

I got a Moryde kingpin box and it made a world of difference. I highly recommend it.

Replaced the original pin box on our 2018 Montana 305RL with a Trailride Air Ride. Eliminated 95% of the chucking. Still get some just depending on the road construction and speed. It certainly makes dragging the hooch around the country a lot more pleasant.
