Disney Cast members.

This is for those MOC'ers who are Seasonal cast members (CT)during the winter months at Disneyworld Florida.. If you are not this will make no sense to you but it may be important to those cast members.

Had a long conversation with The labor service center this AM in regard to. The 150 hour requirement and the re certification training.

You no longer get a letter in the mail reminding you of the quarterly Availability submission and you may or may not get one via E mail notification . We have not got one as of Sept 9th.The answer was you may get one later in the month.. Maybe. the availability submission for November-Jan is due now during the month of Sept. If you do not submit it you are terminated. Go on the Hub, labor service center, Ct availability form and submit now.

You must work 150 hours annually measured on a rolling quarterly basis. (what in the name of the mouse does that mean)

Answer, Example the end of the present quarter is Sept 30, 2013. They will look back to Sept 30,2012 and you must have worked 150 hours
during that time. They will do that every quarter.

You can get a Hours monitoring report listing the hours you worked each pay period and each quarter but you can only get that on the internal hub network. We printed ours out in April 2013 before we left. I note that as of the pay period 4/7/13 I have 513.63 hours worked. Helen has way more than that. The next monitoring will be Dec 31st 2013 looking back to Dec 31st 2012. So you can determine when you will run out of hours.

Re cert training.By the ever popular Disney OP If you have not worked in your specialty for more tha 6 months you must be recrtified (mine is attractions Helens is QSR. She works in 4 restaurants and must be re certified in all 4 of them, get the picture . Apparently the labor service center, scheduling and training may or may not communicate with one another, leaning toward the "may not" It is up you to communicate your recert needs to your COT or Manager. That is the way it is.

You might want go call the labor service center to determine your individual needs........

Sounds as bad as LEO certification when it first started back in the late 70's. I had stopped being an LEO right before that started, but some friends kept telling me it was a nightmare. Good luck all you Disney folks.

we have a double whammy. Both worked for the Federal Government and now both work for WDW. We have been there...done that.. The re cert is simple' I have been doing the same thing for three years and can do it in my sleep but rules are rules and so be it. It is a matter of every one being on the same page which apparently is not the case.. It is not a problem for us as we know how the system works.

I am curious as to the compensation for this work. Do they provide a campsite or just pay you so you can give it back to them if you stay in Fort Wilderness?

Ken.. WDW does not have a work camping program. You are one your own as far as a campground. Fort Wilderness is far to expensive to stay for any length of time. There are affordable campground in that area.

Being a cast member at WDW is , for us, and for many snowbirds something we choose to do just because we enjoy doing it. It is very part time and the pay is not great but it does help pay for the winter in Florida. we do not need to work there but it is a enjoyable experience and we have a endless source of entertainment as cast members have free access to all the parks and many, many Discounts both on and off the park.
I put in 500 hours over the 6 months there that is about 21 hours a week and we can pretty much control the number of hours we work.

We do not consider it "work" it is for both of us fun time.
