What do YOU call it??

DW and I were having a discussion before church as to what we call what we do. We don't feel comfortable telling people we are going camping, because we used to do that in a tent. We likewise don't feel comfortable telling people we are going RV-ing because that sounds like we have a MH. What do you tell people (fulltimers not included - I suppose you would tell them you are going home LOL!) you are doing when you are going to spend a weekend or a week in the Montana. Inquiring minds (mainly mine) need to know.

We STILL tell people we're going camping.
Because we ARE.
Then we have to CLARIFY that it's really NOT camping camping.
That it's in our Montana, which is our little luxury condo on wheels...
Most times, they then want to go WITH us and agree that that IS the way to camp
and that you could EVEN probably live in it!
Then WE have to agree with THEM and say that we HAVE!
For a SHORT time anyway while we remodeled the brick house.
It's ALWAYS fun explaining the Monty!!

We tell people we are going traveling or going on a trip. Or where ever our destination

My sister-in-law has not a clue how we go camping. We told her we were going to Indiana with the Montana and she said, "my idea of camping is at the Holiday Inn". She has never seen our Monty.

My husband's cousin can't understand how we pull this Monty down the road. She looks around in our Monty living room wide eyed and says "you pull this?"

Sorry didn't mean to get off topic.

We're with Dusty on this one. We put the emphasis on the "trip" or "traveling" and when appropriate we might say "in our fifth-wheel" or even "in our RV". That seems to work better for us than the term "camping". Probably because we really have been campers--in a tent and then, for some years, backpacking in the wilderness.

We will be leaving for a month long trip to Colorado in a week, in our fifth-wheel RV.

We still call it camping. We do a lot of weekend camping with clubs and have State Campouts that we attend. It is just classier camping. A lot of our friends say "you call that camping" I know what they mean.

Where is the rule that sayes that camping has to be in a tent, under the stars, pop up tent trailer, travil trailer, 5er, or that 3/4 mil $ coach.
It's camping whatever your in.

ole dude,

That's a good one! Reminds me of back when we bought our Monty, we were very seriously going to sell the store, the house & property, and get the **** out of Dodge and head for Montana! Well, even though we now have our plan B ready, we've decided to stick with plan A for a little while longer.

But, after we did get the Monty, I was talking to Dan's sister on the phone. She asked what we were doing and I told her that we were in Montana (meaning we had it set up down at our lake) She freaked out saying "Oh my gosh! You really did move to Montana!!" It took me a while to stop laughing and tell her the truth!

We go camping! This is our idea of getting away and that what camping is for!(besides living in it) None of this laying on the ground and other stuff for us. (we've been there and done that) We love our Mountaineer and friends we've met "down the road". Happy CAMPIN to all!

We call it traveling, it just happens to be in our Montana and in a camp grounds. I was a scoutmaster for close to 25 years and I did my "camping" then. I will not sleep on the ground again!
It's fun to watch peoples eyes when you tell them you just came back to Ohio from California and, by the way, we pulled our 37 ft 5th wheel.
We kind of look at it like our home on wheels away from home!

We tell them we are going camping also. They say, you call that camping and that camping means roughing it. I tell them that we are roughing it, smoothly.

I usually don't care what people think. My mission in life is not to try and impress someone with a mobile home.

Because my coach is on a seasonal site on the river, I say I am heading to the river.

We tell everyone we are going camping and when they tell us this isn't really camping. I quickly explain how we are roughing it because we don't have a hot tub to sit in while watching the nascar race on Sunday's.

We consider it roughing it when 50 amp service is not available!

We used to just say we're going camping.

Technically, your fifthwheel is an RV. RV is a class of vehicles in which is included fifthwheels, travel trailers, motorhomes, etc.
