In spite of their metal tracks, our kitchen drawers have started jamming. I took a good look at them today and found the problem. It is not very complicated and should be an easy fix if you ever run into this problem.
The back end of the drawer tracks are screwed onto two upright pieces of 1 x 2 that run from the floor to the counter. These are held in place top and bottom but there is nothing in the middle to keep them parallel, in our case the 1 x 2s have bowed out slightly, allowing the drawer wheels to slip off their tracks.
There are various way that one could fix this, but I think I will try putting a piece of threaded rod to tie the uprights together somewhere near the middle. Just under the second drawer down looks like a good spot. Threaded rod will allow me to fine tune the adjustment of the uprights and lock them in place.
