Electrical issue

Yesterday around noon the power went off on my unit. I’m staying in a park hooked up to 30 amp shore power. After work I determined there is power to the plug but no power to the 120 system. Could this be caused by the converter having a problem?

I don't think so. Are both the 12V and 120V systems off? Check some wall/ceiling lights for 12V and maybe the living room TV for 120V.
Something every RVer should have is a digital voltmeter. With it you could check the voltage at the fuse panel (carefully). If you are not comfortable with electricity get a friend of a pro to check it.

Start at the park post and work toward the camper.
EMS/ Surge protector. Cord, plug that cord goes in on camper etc;

A bad converter could cause loss of 12 vdc power, but not loss of 120 vac power unless it tripped the main breaker. But that should not happen since the converter has its own breaker at a lower amperage than the main breaker.

When you say you have power to the plug, do you mean power to the park outlet that you plug your power cord into? And are you using a voltmeter or outlet tester to verify that?

If using a volt meter to verify power to that outlet, and you do have power there, then unplug the cord from the back of the trailer and use the meter to verify you have voltage to the trailer end of the power cord. If not, then you have a problem in the cord, or your adapter, or its connection to the park outlet.

If you have power to the trailer end of the cord but no power inside the trailer, then you have an internal power issue. Some have had a bad connection inside the receptacle on the back of the trailer. But you need to determine whether the problem is inside or outside before further troubleshooting.

If you haven't already fixed this issue, when hooked up to 30 amps you really should have your water heater and the fridge set up to be using gas only because on these rigs with 50 amp electrical systems, there is more load usually than a 30 amp service can handle. What may have happened could be the water heater turned on at the same time as the fridge and the converter, and those three things could easily trip a 30 amp breaker. Even though there still might be power to the pedestal in the park, you probably tripped the 30 amp breaker and many times the handle of the breaker doesn't move much or at all. At the pedestal, fully turn off the breaker and then fully switch it back on. If everything else was good, this will probably restore your power to the rig. If not, it's possible that the 50 to 30 amp adapter, also called a dogbone, might be bad. As was already said, the only way to really figure out what is bad, you need a volt meter.

Had similar problem in our last trailer. Found the connection between the end of the power cord to the trailer romex had melted due to loose connection. Glad it was inside a junction box. It was connected with large wire nut. Repaired with split-bolt connector.
