Newbies
Greetings: we have joined this group anticipating buying a Montana 3150 5th wheel after seeing a used 2012 recently. Currently have a 2004 29RL Wildcat (2 slides, queen bed, front closet , lots of overhead storage for 29'). Our current unit suits us perfectly but age & wear are building after four trips across this wonderful country. Any comments, pro and con, from owners of the 3150s out there would be appreciated. Problems encountered or surprising benefits in the 3150 are especially of interest

Hope I've posted this properly!

Welcome, Bill and Nita, from sunny and warm Colorado. We do not have the 3150, but do have a 3160. You will find, as you probably already have, that floor plans are very much a personal thing on how you use your unit. We love the shorter Montana because of where we live in the mountains. We are in our third Montana and have enjoyed all three. But, each floor plan change was due to a change in lifestyle. The second unit was purchased because we wanted a separate bathroom because we became grandparents. The third unit was because our driveway on the mountain won't accomodate heavier/longer units. Good luck and let us know your progress.

Thanks. Yes shorter is better for us. 30' is where we would like to be. But the extra few feet in the 3150 brings some benefits. Love those CO mtns. Have a son in Gypsum.

Can relate to your desire for being at 30' for the fifth wheel. We are reviewing units from 27-32' so that when we stop fulltiming and have a house again. At that time we won't need this large box for 3-6 month travel stints...but that is a few years down the road. John

Welcome from Kansas. We have a 2013 3150RL and have been living in it full time (stationary) for almost a year, with 3 medium sized dogs and a (mostly) outside cat. No problems once we figured out the heated water hoses and heat tapes. Because we are statioary, we had a bulk (325 gal) propane set up - much cheaper than filling the 30 lb tanks.
