12' couch ... ideas

I thought we were gong to love the 12' couch, and we DO like it better than the dinette arrangement, but it is longer really than we need.

We hardly ever sit at the end, and it is always piled with junk. So, I think we can just remove that section and construct something more useful - maybe a desk? If we do move the couch part, should we store it, for a future owner?

I am a lover of Ikea, but I havent found any solutions there.

thanks!

well if you go away for the summer, or full time those small freezers come in very handy. It should fit in there.

Nice! I see your daughter makes a great measuring stick. She looks like she provided a lot of help!

When you think about it that's an amazing amount of extra room. You can probably do all kinds of things with that.

Just for reference sake, you should probably weigh what you are removing so you know how much you gain or lose when putting something else in its place. You may not be able to put a gun safe there or something like that, but you get the idea.

ah, weighing it would have been a good idea, but we don't own A scale. I lifted the pieces, so I can kind of tell how much they weighed. Currently, we put in some light weight shelving as a temporary solution. Will share pics later. We went to Ikea looking for some desk or or table to fit there, but it is 37" wide, and most of their pieces were 40" or bigger. We aren't in a huge hurry yet, but so far, we are happy with the new arrangement.
