Buying new tires.

Since having a blowout last Friday I have learned more about trailer tires than I ever knew existed. I pull a Monty 3150 which comes with those Goodyear Marathons. It wasn't until after I bought a replacement Marathon last Monday that read about all the problems Marathons have had. I have just recently noticed what I thought was excessive wear on all of my tires, which are only 1.5 yrs. old and have less than 3,000 miles. I check the tire pressure regularly.

I no longer feel safe driving these Marathons. Given the size of my fifth wheel....what are some possible replacement tires I can buy? I have done some research and searches of this site but most people didn't specify the size of 5er they had. Plus, I am mechanically illiterate so I need this spelled out in simple terms. So, at the sake of starting yet another post on tires, please give me recommendations for my particular trailer. Thanks in advance.

I have an '07 3075RL, 34'-8" long, about 14K GVWR, 10,5K shipping weight. Pretty close to the same size/weight as yours.
I had Missions as OEM, but replaced them at about 5,000 miles with Michelin XPS Ribs. Have about 7,000 miles on them and they still look basically new. After reading all the problems with Missions, I decided to get rid of them sooner rather than later. Didn't have a failure, but did start seeing the sidewalls starting to look rippled.

As you will see throughout past posts, Goodyear G614's are the way to go. I happened to already have the 110 psi rims, but if you don't then you will need new rims. I found the best price at a commercial Goodyear truck tire shop, they were much cheaper than camping world and other discount tire shops. Just came back from a 4 week trip to Canada with my new G-614's, and for the first time did not stress about the tires at all!

Sam's Club has the G614's for $304, that was the best price I could find.

Eddie & Gina,

I have the same camper as you do, and if you have the same wheels as I,

Your wheels are good to 3750#, which I think is 110# of air. They are called T04 8 spoke.

I recently had to purchase a set for our Monty. I had the missions on it probably from being new. I chose to go to a slightly larger tire LT235/85R16's. The camper calls for using 235 80R16E. I went with a Firestone Transforce HT tire.

We went with the Goodyear G614's after a blowout on a Marathon. We were on the highway, in emergency mode, and had to (in my opinion) bite the bullet at Camping World and fork over $1600+ for 4 new tires(didn't feel safe any longer with stock tires). Bought the fifth(spare) after returning home and contacting Goodyear(they credited us the price of a new Marathon, we paid the difference for a G614). You're smart to shop around while you have the luxury to do so. Like many others who think it won't happen to them, we wish we would have replaced them earlier. We were lucky to only sustain minimal damage and most importantly, no one was hurt.

If you want to stay with an ST tire, you can't go wrong with Maxxis, they have an excellent reputation.

In my humble opinion, having had problems with my Marathons, most LT tires are a better than any ST tire. Except for the above mentioned G614. I have BFG Commercial TAs and am pleased with them.

It is the tire load rating on most LT tires that are a problem. If you are within you tire load ratings you are OK with the LT tire.

about rims, i have a 3150 2010 too.....
my rims are rated at 110 pounds so if you look at the back side of your rims you will see the rating so I would go with the G614.
