awning rail
I'm wondering what the awning rail on the montana is attached to. I'm sure it has to be an aluminum brace running the length of the Rv under the skin. Mine is the 2980 and about a foot has come loose at the front. It seems the screw has stripped. I'm thinking of a larger screw to put back in. this screw is located beside where the awning arm is attached. I remove the bolts from the arm bracket, and tried to tighten the railing screw, then when I put the bolts back in the arm mounting bracket the bolts pull the awning rail back out. the top bolts goes thru the awning rail, and the threads just pull the rail back out with the screw. any suggestions ?

For starters you might want to drill the hole for the mounting bracket that goes through the rail a little bigger so that the screw doesn't catch on the rail

I'm not sure I follow exactly where your problem is but we had a similar problem where the awning arm connects at the bottom of the arm. The screw hole thread was stripped and the bolt didn't hold. The dealer drilled through the wall and installed a bolt through the arm bracket, through the wall and placed a flat washer and nut on the bolt. It was then tightened and haven't had a problem with it in five years. The bolt shows inside the coach just beside the kitchen cabinets down close to the floor.
