Ford King Ranch

Calling all King Ranch owners.
Trying to figuire out where to mount new Cobra 29CB with Weather alert in our 2005 F350 King ranch. DW doesn't want it mounted above.
Just would like some ideas and pics if possible. They last CB I installed my truck had a metal dash and I just mounted it under the dash. With the Newer trucks the dashes are all plastic and there is no free space under the dash. One idea that I am thinking about is removing one of the bolts that hold the trash bag holder and than measuring and driling the second hole for the mounting bracket and using some metal bracing behind in on the lower dash below the pull out cup holder.
Any and all suggestions accepted as good advice.

I have no suggestions for your Cobra but am interested in what others have to suggest.
Different note - my GPS (Magellan) Fits above the rear view mirror, I put velcro (the hooks) on the top of the GPS and it sticks to the ceiling and rests on the top of the mirror.
Good Luck

I have the all-in-one Cobra. The power box is mounted behind the front seat console. A power cord runs under the carpet to an up-fitter switch on the dash. The radio/handset fits beside my driver seat. I use a roof mounted magnetic antenna, but only put it out if I am planning to use the CB.

I have a 2006 KR. Same model as your 2005 and although I have not yet mounted my CB, I am planning on mounting it right where you are talking about. If that don't work I was going to get a friend at work to fab a bracket that would still utilize those two screws. I just feel that is the best place and out of the way.

I have a 2006 king ranch and installed the radio on the front of the center counsole ,, the antenna we mounted on a 3/4" sq tube on the top of the box behind the cab , but i then mounted another 3/4" on top of that so i can move it out the 6" when pulling the unit so you have coverage behind you .. the cable i ran between the box and cab into the cab under the rear seat and then under the plastic strip in the door way to the front,, i also added to the bottom of the radio a 45 degree to the cable so it dosent brush the floor and break as that has happened ,, where it comes through the floor under the rear seat i drilled a 3/4" hole and then used silicon to center it so it won't rub on the metal ;;also lots of ties to hold the cable under the cab so it won't move;;;sailer

I have a 2008 F-350 with captains chairs and consol in the center. I mounted my CB (and police scanner) on a small wooden stand which simply sits on the floor and is easily removed if necessary. I used three strips of velcro hooks on the bottom to grab the rug and help keep it from sliding around. The stand consists of the bottom plate and two sides. Make a test stand of cardboard and when you're happy with the fit copy it in wood. You can mount your CB and GPS unit on the stand. Here are two photos of my setup:

Here is what I did. However, the D/W doesn’t like the weather alert noise on it! I found a mounting bracket from a radio shop close to me. It has two sides that bolt onto the CB radio which sits it on a tilt. I also found a small wire “thingy” from Wal-Mart in the kitchen dept. which allows me to sit the CB and brackets on it giving it the proper angle to sit in the floor in front of the console.

Did I mention that the D/W doesn’t like the weather alert noise on it!

On Edit: I used wire tie straps to secure the CB brackets to the wire “thingy.”

My 2006 F350 KR - I mounted the CB on the side of the center console (between the drivers seat and the console)with the front controls for the CB pointed up. Mic lays right on top and all is very accessible from the drivers seat.
