3rd air conditioner

I have a 2023 montana 3901rk. I want to add a 3rd ac, but I want to make sure I get the same as keystone would put in if I had ordered it with one so that I can run all 3 at the same time. It has the coleman mach 15's in it now. For those that have a 3rd ac is it the exact same as the other 2. I'm having a little trouble getting definite info from the dealer. Thanks

It will be the same Coleman Mach AC but will have a different air delivery. You I’ll need a “dump” air delivery as it will not hook into the duct system.

As long as it is pre wired for the third unit (and I believe it is) it will have a standalone circuit that will allow all three yo run on shore power.

Ok thanks, that's what I was thinking. It is pre wired for a 3rd.

If you can hold off a bit, AND if you do any boondocking, Furrion is coming out with a new AC system.

If your RV is "prepped" for third AC, it likely means only the power circuit is there, not the controls. I doubt it can be controlled from existing thermostat(s). If it's going to be located in an area with a high ceiling, you might want to opt for a remote control. If you are going to be using 3 units, a soft start is a must, go ahead and put it on with the install. Coleman offers an optional resistance heat strip for their units for about $70. It's only 1.5KW because they have to keep it around 12 amps. It won't heat the coach but will help. If you get a heat pump type, you won't be able to run the heat pump and resistance heat together, but the resistance heat will work well below the 40 degrees or so limit of the heat pump.

I agree with Daryles, if you can wait, the Furrion variable speed may be a game changer in RV air conditioning.

Just read the review. If that is the next step, I am excited!

From my research, Brinkley is the only OEM offering it for now and is apparently standard across their line. It's only on the rear unit probably because Furrion doesn't make a low profile unit yet. Brinkley seems to be willing to try many new things on their RVs, which is good as it can be a proving ground for the rest of the industry. Brinkley is still a new enough company that they are responsive to customer's satisfaction and ideas. Just wait until
Thor or Winnebago scoops them up and shows them that's no way to run an RV manufacturing company!

3rd a/c

Let me jump in here. If your rig is pre wired for a 3rd a/c the power is up there also there is a thermostat wire up there that runs down the wall usually where you other thermostat is.

Something else to consider is whether you need a low profile unit

Something else to consider is whether you need a low-profile unit to not increase your overall trailer height or if you can use a standard height unit. The new Furrion Chill Cube is not low-profile. They will have a low-profile model availalbe in the future, but it will not be the first one out - from what I read previously. I have a 2017 3811MS and was thinking about a 3rd AC - with all the same questions. Ours uses Dometic ACs - with a low-profile in the front and a standard profile in the back. Not sure if a low-profile is required to prevent increasing our overall height.

Hmm, that's good to know. I'm in the same boat, looking to add a third. That would be nice to have it all controlled on the same thermostat.

Another option is a small portable A/C unit that vents outside one of the windows. They really do work well and are very affordable.

3rd ac

I love my 3rd ac. On a very hot day two ac’s keep my rig ok but the temperature may get up to 80-85 turn the 3rd on for a couple of hours and the rig really cools down. Do expect the 3rd AC to be much louder. Depending on your unit it probably cannot be hooked into the ductwork and without that comes noise

My 2022 3121RL is prewired for a third AC and the InCommand controller includes a screen for controlling a middle or third AC. Camping mostly in Texas, we are considering adding the third AC. However this year we found a better solution by spending July and August in NM.

On a 50 amp outlet, can that keep up with 3 A/C units working?

Absolutely! The 50 amp service is really TWO legs of 50 amps. so you have 100 amps of power in reality. You can't realistically run 3 A/C's on one 50 amp leg, but with 2 on one leg and 1 on the other, you are good to go.
