HOT 373rd summers
Our 2022 unit is a great layout but these hot summer days in the high 90s it should have had a third roof unit!! Well there is a solution for $169 a 12x17x15 LG 5000 window unit!!! Yes not kidding !! I placed it in the window in the dining area slide out and made some mods to the existing vents, by the way suck, and we got 98 degree days down to 68 degrees inside yahoo finally!!!

Looks like a factory install. We recently put one of those portable A/C units in at my daughter's apartment, and they work extremely well. Definitely a much cheaper solution than adding a 3rd roof top A/C.

Stephen-- how far does the unit stick outside of the window? Will the slide close with the unit in the window and how does it ride when mobile?

Excellent idea though.
Better than a portable floor unit. They are not very efficient.

Sticks out 15inches and can remove it in 2 minutes no holes drilled no tape or caulk slips in easy well balanced no strain on the glass. I made a aluminum flat piece of metal to span the frame and easy pesy nice and easy!

Tried a portable unit borrowed from a friend and it raised the temperature and you need to drain the water. This little unit dropped the temperature 22 degrees when it was 95 degrees with 108 real feel. Perfect the unit weighs 36 pounds I put it under the dining room table when traveling

I have a portable 12k btu stand up portable unit with the exhaust out the very same window in my 5er. Take it out of rv when temps get under 90. Really cools the 5er down fast. So much cheaper than an expensive 3rd roof unit. It is the kind of unit that also vents the moisture out the exhaust. Though in extremely humid conditions I may have to drain some water, that hasn’t happened yet. These are great inexpensive options for the hot summer months that usually don’t last more than 4 months of the year. When not in use in the rv in summer, I use it in my workshop . It gets some good use.

Like Mikelff, I too have a standalone A/C that I vent out the rea side wind. I was going to where it was going to be over 100 for some time With only one A/C is was going to be ugly. The standalone A/C was cheaper than a roof top unit, cools better and quieter. I couldn't be happier with it.

We tried the portable unit didn’t have luck made it warmer due to the duct pipe and it leaked on the floor. We found this mini unit which is light and small fits the window perfect

We have a portable unit as well. I found on amazon a wrap for the exhaust duct to help cut down on heat transfer. it simply wraps around the exhaust duct and fastens with Velcro. Seemed to be pretty effective by the "feels cooler to touch" test.
