New thermostat possibility?

On my 2005 2955RL I have a Dometic thermostat that seems to have a mind of it's own. Is it possible to replace this with a unit that has A/C OR Heat? Presently I am unable to choose just heat but am able to choose just A/C. Suggestions? As you can see, remote is set for 79* on heat and is 73* inside presently but furnace not running.

Micro Air makes a replacement thermostat but they are expensive.
I've heard you can use a home thermostat IF it is battery powered.
Normally home thermostats run on 24v from a transformer from the furnace/air conditioner.

The now infamous remote control thermostat installed in 2005 model Montanas was a problem for many members. Here is a link to 18 pages (349 Posts) of discussion related to this POS. Included in the text is the part numbers you will need to upgrade to the Comfort Control Center (CCC) replacement unit and instructions for installation. Back in the day, Dometic was replacing them for no charge. Today it will cost you. But the CCC is a way better thermostat.

You are dead on about this "infamous remote control thermostat", it is a true POS. Will look into the CCC unit and see what I can find. Thank you, figured that by now someone has owned my model Montana and would have a good idea of what I could do for a replacement.

My POS lasted 3 years. Dometic Single Zone LCD Thermostat Model 3313192 (Cool/Furnace) was an easily installed replacement - do have to cut off the unique connectors for the old Thermostat wires as I recall.

I had the bad remote. I did replace it with a Dometic Comfort Control. It has more options than i need but it works great. One thing you have to do is replace the control board which is located in the air conditioning unit. Make sure you take photos of the wiring on the old control board before you remove it as the wiring is a little different. When i talked to dometic the tech said i could by the board cheaper on amazon and gave me the part number. Saved about 30 bucks buying on amazon. Total fix with thermostat and control board was about $300. Did the install myself so saved a bunch there. Good luck.

I have the same rig and mine works pretty good. The temperature settings are not accurate but once I figured out the temperature I like I just keep it set at that temperature. I don’t really care what the number is.
