Replacement tires
I'm sure the question has been asked many times, but thought I would check in with the forum: My new 3000RE was delivered with Trailer King tires ST235/80R16, E rating, running on 80 PSI. The rims have a max load of 3750 Lbs and 110 PSI.
Given the bad experiences with Trailer King on the Web, I would like to replace these tires with either Goodyear G614 RST LT235/85R16 or the Sailun ST 235/85R16, both tires are G rated and run 110PSI. Based on the rim spec, I believe I should be good with either tire.
Any comments, recommendations or observations on my tire "assessment" and fit?

Either will work. Just get rid of the China bombs.

Then there's those of us who prefer LT tires - a whole lot less expensive (more of them made) and more reserve capacity. A lot of folks will chime in on both sides, but it's really up to how much money you've got.

I would agree those Trailer Kings would be suspect especially since there's a good chance the transporter probably delivered the trailer at higher speeds than normal thereby creating a premature tire failure for your future.
Your tire plans seem very reasonable and probably what many other members would recommend.

Go for it. You don't what to be back here crying about the damage done by a blown Trailer King!

My guess would be you're too heavy for LT tires, but weighing the rig will tell you for sure.

I have a 2011 3400RL put the G614 on several years ago and have never had any problem run 105psi.

Real happy with my Sailun's so far. I think that both are good tires and will give you peace of mind. Happy roads to you.

I had 4 new Goodyear G614 RST installed today, installer recommended running them at 90 PSI, it seemed a little low to me, any recommendations on PSI, my thought was to dial in at 100 PSI.

Good choice. There is no reason to not run them at anything other than max pressure. Max pressure increases load carrying capacity which you don't need but it also causes less heat bild up which is always nice.

How do you determine rim specs to see if you can go from load range E at 80psi to load range G at 110psi ?

Look on the backside of your rims it will be stamped with 80P.S.I max or a 110P.S.I. stamp, you do not say what year your Monty is but Montana started using 110P.S.I. rims, in about 2011 I think? quote] Originally posted by JABURKHOLDER

@JABURKHOLDER: The inside of the rim is stamped with max load and pressure, in my case the rim max load stamp was defined as 3750 lbs and 110PSI, the G614 is a G rated tire with a max load of 3750 lbs @ 110 psi, a perfect fit.

Jerry, for the last about five years all Montana's have shipped with 110 psi rims. We had G614's on our last Montana and ordered them on our 2015 3160. We have been all over the country including Alaska and have not had to worry about tires. A good TPMS system is also recommended. As for LT tires, we ran them on our first Montana. The problem with LT tires is they now become your weak link. I am unaware of an LT tire that is rated at or over 3500 lbs. The Montana's ship with 7000 lb axles. Just my two cents.

Went with the Sailun 14 ply in April - ordered from Simple Tire and shipped free to a local authorized tire store. Paid the store for mount, balance & install. Run at 110 psig and drove home 3600 miles, I-10, Bryce Canyon to home. No problems at all. Simple Tire prices are the best.
