Bev-- IF you are going to replace your E rated tires on your Montana, I would recommend going with the Goodyear G-614's. The I had them put on our unit before we even pulled off the dealers lot. The E rated tires are just not heavy enough to handle the Montana's weight and heat from the roads while traveling. They are good for the lighter TTs but not for the heavier Montana. The G-614 are a little pricey but they are worth every penny when it comes to safety and also peace of mind as you are rolling down the highways and biways of our great country. Montana puts on the E rated because they are cheaper and they are at the very maximum of the weight of the Montana.

You don't say if you have an older rig or a High Country. If you do then a good LT tire like a Michelin will work for you. Check your weight at a scale not what Keystone says. Otherwise, Rondo is right on. G 614's on our rig. You'll see a lot of threads about price and the 614's are pricy, but I drove a day with a suspension failure that caused the heavy side of our rig to be running on only one tire. Two years later that same tire is on the same wheel and I've had no problems with it. For me, it's worth the money.

We have the RV Weight and Safety seminar along with the option to purchase the weighing service scheduled at the Rally. Take advantage of this and it will make things a lot clearer to you

It does depend on your weight. We have a 2007 3075RL, empty weight under 11,000 and we don't carry much in it since we are mostly long weekenders. I put Michelin XPS Ribs on 7 yrs and nearly 20,000 miles ago and they still look nearly new. And that includes several trips across the TX panhandle at temps over 100, even 108 on one trip. Being in TX most of our trips involve some high temps.

If you have a heavier rig then they may not be rated high enough for you.

Installed Michelin XPS Ribs on our 09 2980RL Monty two years 6,000 miles ago. Our individual wheel weights were below the max weights of Michelins. I am very pleased with wear and performance of tires. My rims are not suited for G 614s.

If you have the original ST tires you need to get rid of them! We have all seen far too many campers with the side of them tore up because of a busted ST tire. The G rated tires are expensive but far cheaper than the side of your camper. We can promise if you keep running the ST tires it will happen to you.

If you are over 13k lbs then yes you need the G314's. Anything under that you can do the E rated LT tires. Remember you have pin weight so your tires are not carrying all that 13k lbs. Most any heavy E rated tire will work. My trailer weighs 12.5k lbs per Cat scales. I have Michelin tires on it now and they are not the RIB's but are the MTS or something like that. They have been on since the last BF Goodrich recall. We just as of today got back from a 3500 mile trip where my cruise is set at 70 mph....same as a trip I did before Christmas of 3000 miles and one last summer Tex to Az in 112 degree heat with no problems. You will find there are those who think if it has a Montana name it should have G614's on it but nah nah....There are several Montana heavy weights out there that do but there are many under 13k lbs, and if you do a search you will find many running LT tires of all types....

I think pretty much the same junk tires, just a different name.

Trailer King = Junk.
I saw a 5er pulled into the Kroger parking lot with 3 trailer Kings and a ruined side od the camper. This was a new SOB.

I have the Trailer King on my unit and I will be replacing them. Mainly because of the speed rating. I do know that there have been reports of G614's blowing out. What I am interested in would be the quantity of Marathons or trailer Kings etc that are on thousands of units and what the percentage rate of failures is compared to the better G614's which probably only have a fraction of that amount actually mounted on units. It would be valuable information if we could see the actual percentage rate of failures per 10,000 tires or something like that. I am not promoting the E rated tires or bad mouthing the G rated tires, I am just curious if we continually hear about tire failures because of the shear numbers of the cheaper tires.

I too am looking to upgrade from the BlowMasters that came stock on my HighCountry 293RK, it's labeled as under 10,000lbs dry. I know that I have 6-bolt wheels but don't know the PSI rating. Does anyone know if they'll handle the 100psi the G614's require? Or will I have to look for a different tire.

You don't G rated tires for your "almost Montana ". A LT tire will work just fine for us. I have an "almost Montana" and wouldn't swap for a real Montana.
