Timbrens installed on 2011 Dodge 3500 - Montana Owners Club

Installed my Timbrens on my 2011 Dodge RAM 3500DRW LB and connected up to the Monty, just for reference, here is a picture from before I installed the Timbrens at a school yard:

And here is a picture of after install at the same school yard:

To me, the truck looks like it squats more with the Timbrens installed, but that cant be right.

I do have 88 gallons of fuel, at 7.15# per gallon = 629#.

I do not have the spacer installed in the Timbrens.

The ground was a little downhill, but the bed rail was a little uphill:

looks like it is lower with the Timbrens to me also.

You might have to go with the spacer

I put them on my 09 Dodger Ram 2500 and they corrected my headlight in the sky problem as well as some side to side rocking. Think we used the spacer but not sure and it is too cold to go look. Don't see how it could squat more with the timbren then without. Only way to tell for sure is to measure before and after. I agree with Ozz. Based on your photos you need the spacer or your money and efforts appear to be wasted. Jim

I installed them on my 2005/2500 chevy. and I used the spacers and the work grate NOSAG YOU DO NOT NEED A SPACE BETWEEN THE SPRING AND THE RUBBER

I would double check to insure you have the right set, there are many different kits for Dodge, it's possible you may not have the H.D. set. I had to contact them on my truck, they sent me the correct stiffness Timbren.
I think it was General Spring, it was a Timbren distributor

I installed Timbrens on my '06 2500 Dodge that was saging quite a bit when hooked to our 3000RK (2350# pin weight). It corrected the problem perfectly. No spacers, 3/4" clearance between Timbrens and axle when empty.

Get your part number out and check it against these charts. Also, you have to determine if you need 'severe service'.
I would call the weight we have severe, so you might need these baby's. If you have any doubt, or questions call these guys, they were extremely helpful to me. They actually sent me the correct H.D. Timbrens free, after I bought the lighter duty ones.

I have the DR3500CA which I guess is the regular service.

Looking at the picture of the Timbren, it doesnt look very compressed to me. But it doesnt have the spacer in there either.

I think I need to put the spacer in and try again.

When you got the HD replacements, were they any longer than the regular service ones?

I think so. I know I didn't use the spacer on my second set.
Why don't you call them tomorrow and ask them? Might save you some work.

is that a dually? the trailer that heavy? or is the dodge sage that much lighter?fords and gm do not seam to sit that low under load. i had a 2500 that sat better then that dually? just doesnt seam right.

thor, I too had a 2000 Ford that required nothing to support the 5'er and it sat level. When we bought the 09 Dodge we noticed it squatted quite a bit. Also noticed looking in the rear view mirror the 5'er rocked left to right more than on the Ford. According to Dodge consumers were really complaining about how rough the ride was on the 2500 & 3500 series trucks.They came out with a light load setting for the tires where you bring the rear tires down to 45 psi when empty and it does soften the ride. I think they also altered the suspension some how to achieve a smoother softer "empty" ride. Not sure they did the same to the 3500's but mission was accomplished on my 2500 and Timbrens did prevent the squat and side to side movement. Jim

I installed Timbrens on my 2009 Chevy 2500. Was confused about the required spacing when unloaded so I called Timbrens engineering department. They were very helpful and gave me a part number to order them with. I believe they custom made this order or at least it was not listed were I could find it. I would highly suggest speaking with their engineering department. The phone number can be found on their web page.

The picture of the Timbren looks like its barley doing anything to me, and that IS with the Montana attached. I have 1.5 inches of space between the Timbren and the axle without the camper attached.

Before I ordered the Timbrens I did call the company and explained what was happening and they are the ones who suggested using the part # that I have.

I have also talked to Dodge and they said that I do have the correct springs, but I just cant imagine that this Montana would bring the rear down that much.

I've only had this Dodge for 2 months, previous truck was a 2006 F350 CC SRW SB 4x2 and it sat right level.

I'm going to put the spacer in and see what happens.

I did notice that the Monthy seems to be sitting farther to the rear of the bed than mine does.
Or is it that I just never looked close at mine. The hitch on my TV sits very close to the center of the bed and over the axels. I have a 2955 with about 2000# on the hitch and the Dodge only drops about 2 inches.

I agree it looks to me also that the hitch is farther back then it should be.Also can you raise the hitch one notch?

The picture is kind of deceiving because the pin box extends further into the bed, but it disappears from view cause of the bed rails. I'll post another picture of the hitch & pin box next time I hookup.

Took the truck and camper out Monday, in between snow storms, and here is a side by side comparison of the timbrens with & without the spacer. Doesn't look like there is much of a difference to me.

Also a picture of both truck & camper with spacer installed. But I think the road w on an uphill angle.
