Alabama Tornados
Please pray for the people of Alabama. As you may remember that was our home before we became full timers on March 21st. We actually still have our house in Tuscaloosa. Having trouble getting in touch with people but believe it to be safe.

We will add them to our list. As you know we in NC just experienced a major system a little over a week ago. Our loss was no where near as great as in Alabama and we can be thankful for that. We hope you get in touch with people you are trying to contact and find them safe.

Almost 200 dead in Alabama alone. I have a friend who teaches math at the University of Alabama (in Tuscaloosa); he sent me a link to a Birmingham TV station's online weather broadcast, and the number of tornado warnings was incredible. I think at one point after supper the meteorologist said it was the first time all day there was NOT a tornado warning somewhere in the state. The last warning was issued after 1AM this morning. Just awful.

We have relatives in Cullman and Arab, AL and both were hit hard last night. Just got a cell phone call from our sister-in-law and she said she was in GA then it hit Cullman and she could not believe the distruction on her way home today. They are without power at their stick but all are OK,running on a generator for the refrig and freezer but running lanterns for light. We also talked to a nephew who lives south of Cullman and works in Cullman. It normally takes him a half hour to get home, yesterday it took him three and a half hours to get home because of debri all over the roads and downed powerlines. He's fine but said there are many hurting badly! Please keep all in your prayers! There is no landline phones and the cell phone reception is intermitent. One minute you have power and can call out and the next it's gone! No consistancy!

Having just got home from spending the winter in Gulf Shores, AL, we passed through some of the areas that would soon be affected by these devastating storms. Our heartfelt sympathy to all who suffered from this destruction.

My brother lives in Guntersville Al. He was very fortunate. Damage was limited to some surrounding trees but several of the neighboring families were not so lucky sustaining major damage. They expect to be without power and land line phone service for sometime.

Six Northern AL State Parks are closed.

The Pic in this Newspaper article shows most trees down around on presumably on some RVs in Lake Guntersville State Park.
I don't think AL has the money to rebuild these, hopefully the FEDs can help out notwithstanding "Teaparty" budget cutting...IMHO
