Removing lazy susan?

I know several have removed the lazy susan under the kitchen sink. Anything special about it? Will it fit through the cabinet doors etc?

No problem. The shelves will slide up off the pole. Gave ours to Goodwill.

Montana forgot to install the top half of ours, so it was even easier. I don't know why they put it right in front of the the door on our 2980. Lazy Susans are for corners that are hard to get to, like further back in ours. I put in a shelf that runs the full length inside, even put oak veneer on the edges of the plywood and stained to match. Put cork on the top to keep pots from sliding around so much.

We didn't take ours out, we just moved it. Four screws on the bottom. No big deal. On the 3400 it is just one level. Works great where we put it (at the other end) and it is tight enough that things travel well.

As others said, piece of cake. Far easier than I anticipated. Each tray has a pin in a hole holding it to the vertical pole. Lift the tray and pull out the pin.

Thanks! Will look at relocating it but, I think replacing it with a full length shelf makes more sense and will double the storage space. What am I saying? I don't want more storage space, that just relates to more weight. And if it is there Barbara will find something to put on it. Actually we have tons of unused space right now so I doubt we will ever fill it up. More than likely we will just spread out what we have so its easier to get to.

Should be real easy to remove since I have to replace the sink (when it arrives)and that will make both jobs easier. No lazy susan and no sink might give me better access to build the shelf.

Bill Hill, you never had a top shelf to the lazy susan. They only come with the lower shelf. We were all confused by that design last year. We took ours out and bought two wire shelves from Wally world that fit in the cabinet quite well and doubled our storage. Don't miss the lazy susan.

The Lazy Susan came with one shelf on a lot of units, it sounds like. However, our dealer said it should have had two and got us the top part. Must be a common problem. We also have the 3400, so I guess it is a 3400 issue.

In our 3400 the top shelf wouldn't fit because of the pipes underneath. We tried that. Your pipes must be in a different spot. Our dealer said that is why some only have one shelf. Some of the lazy susans on in the top cupboards not bottom ones like the 3400. By moving ours it allows a waste basket to be put in this space that can be accessed from both sides of the island.

Move the page down a bit and you won't see it. It is just a .gif file I found. You just add in to your signature like the weather thingy. We camped once across from some people that had the neatest parrot. He was a real character and loved to show off. This is what he did whenever some music was played. Reminded me of the fun we had with him. BTW Kathi, Happy Birthday.

We removed our lazy susan, it had 2 shelves, and contributed it to the campground dumpster. Had I known about the shelving shortage I would kept it and sold them at the yard sale. Probably could have made a few bucks.

Does anyone have pics of the end results after taking out the lazy susan? I am currently useing a basecabinet/cutting board on wheels that I have to move around. Mel is going to take out the L/Susan this month and put in shelves so I can use that instead, and then get rid of the freestanding one. It's nice and pretty, but heavy and cumbersome. Anyway, I'd like to see what you all have done, and what kind of space it got you?

In the 2006, the lazy susan is in the top cupboard over the sink. Haven't used it yet so don't know if it will be a help or a hindrance - we are picking our new home tomorrow.

Yes, I removed ours shortly after delivery (no problems, will come right out after removing the screws) & replaced it with an adjustable shelf with a lip at both doors so stuff would fall/slide out. Drilled some shelf pin holes at each corner in the cabinet cleats (inside). Used 1/4" shelf pins to adjust the shelf up/down...

Mine is out now. It was a snap to remove once the sink was out. Two pins and 4 screws and it is history. I don't think it would have been very hard to remove even if the sink was still in place. The sink? That was a different topic elsewhere but, the sink had to be replaced because the bottom was cracked. Don't try to break a bag of ice in the sink. Barbara said she thought about it just as she dropped the bag the second and final time. Ordered the new sink from Keystone and 3 weeks and $130 later it is as good as new. Oh, it is new isn't it?

While looking in the under sink cabinet I am going to see if the lazy susan would work better in the angled end opposite where the factory installed it. That has always been hard space to use. May just relocate it there if it fits ok. Or the shelf ideas would work also.
