2006 Ford Turbo
We tow a 2003 32ft. Montana 5th wheel with a 2006 Ford Diesel 250 SuperDuty 6liter turbo. Any one had problems with their turbo going out? Thanks

We tow with a 2005 Ford 250 6.0 turbo diesel and the only problem was when the turbo hose clamp broke once. Otherwise, it does just fine.

We tow with a 2005 6.0 and had to have the turbo rebuilt just before the warranty expired. The veins had rusted inside and caused too much pressure to build up resulting in blowing the turbo hose off. This happened a couple of times. We have since started adding cetane to our fuel, which was recommended by a Ford shop. There has been a great deal of discussion about fuel additives, so it's not necessary to start another one here!

I have a 2006 f250 king ranch and now have 78,000 miles on it and am on the 3rd turbo ,,the 1st was at 29000 miles and the 2nd at 76000 miles;;;that was a bad day as we had to be towed in and then hauled 29 miles to a dif ford garage that had a mec that had the time to work on it that next am, the new turbo came in to him at 7;30 am but was in a open box and was dirty as it was on some truck already so he would not put it on, so they drove 1 way 67 miles to get unit that was new.. now at 78000 miles the fuel computer went out but still under warenty so only 100.00 but i asked how much it was and it was 700.00 so we have to look at it as its less than a truck payment so i think it will run at least another 50000 to 75000 miles as now all is new i hope.. o i just blue a rear tire last week at 38000 miles so i put on 2 tires so i have a extra for the front in about 8000 miles or so ;;;sailer

Ford graciously replaced my 2nd turbo on my 2006 F250 in July, I have 61,000 on it. My Dealer recommended using a cetane booster because the ultra low sulfur only runs 35-40 cetane and the truck needs a minimum of 50 cetane. His words not mine.

55,000 on my '07 F350 6.0 with no turbo problems yet. Had a cam sensor go out at about 53,000, but otherwise no problems.

Thank you all for your replies. We're having the turbo replaced at our expense as it is two months out of warranty and our Ford dealer says "too bad." We're going to Ford next. Don't expect much, but it will make us feel better!

My Ford service manager also recommended using a cetane boost at every fill up. So far we have not had any turbo problems.

I have 87000 mi on my 06 and have recently had to have the egr valve cleaned out. had to have the truck towed as it lost all power and blew black smoke. Never used any additives but it sounds like I should. Is this cetane the stuff they sell at wall mart?

Bill, you can get it at Walmart, the stuff I use is from Ford, it seems more potent. At Ford you get 24 oz for just under $8 and 4oz treats 25gal. The diesel treatment from Walmart has 8oz treats 25gal.

My 06 F250 has 77,000 miles with no problems towing the Monty. The only problem I have had, was hard starting, the dealer fixed it under guarantee. I have always used Stanadyne fuel additive, 2oz treats ten gallons. It comes in a half gallon size and goes a long way ($26.99).
