Jarnold60 when you tow a pull type trailer usually they use a weight distribution hitch which actually removes some of the tongue weight and redistributes it to the front axle of the tow vehicle and also some to the rear axle of the trailer. I stopped a a RV wreck that I saw happen and unfortunately the guy removed to much of the weight off of the TV’s rear axle which ultimately caused the wreck. Once the trailer starts swinging from one side of the road to the other the end is near.

That side by side probably weights about 1200 lbs. I have a similar unit. After you hook up the TT, it will lower the center of gravity. Without know the weight of the trailer I would say all is good.

What is really crazy is there is a company that manufactures the ramps and rack to do just what is pictured. I saw a video of a 1 ton dually outfitted with one and a large side by side (with snow tracks no less) on it.


Can you imagine the field day the lawyers will have with that company when someone wrecks a vehicle with one of those things on it??


I have to admit though, that watching that side by side play in the snow was really cool......

within licensed weight and obeying traffic laws all is good


consider this,
As a group we (rv'ers) should be all about embracing products which may seem a bit odd but are within the 'rules'. Because if we don't, the next thing we will be seeing is non rv'ers looking at the trailers thinking: "wow those trailers look really dangerous, we shouldn't have those on the road"

Some people think this isn’t safe but what about an F150 pulling 13,000 pounds. It can be in spec but is it safe. What about a DRW pulling 30,000 pounds? Safe? It’s in spec.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the guy left today and had the cover off the atv. It's a Polaris 900 razor 4 seater with a dry weight if almost 1700 lbs. The Marlon ramp weighs almost 400 lbs. Assuming he has no gear or fuel in the atv, that's 2100 lbs just for the atv and ramp. Probably another 200 lbs in ramps to unload the atv from the main ramp. Still seems sketchy to me.
