My impressions of an 07 Dodge.
The plant I work in leased an 07 Dodge Crew Cab Cummins 4x4 long bed SRW
I got to drive it and look it over and it is a very nice truck to drive and I think it rides a little better than my Ford.
My truck is a real Crew Cab 4X4 longbox. Dodge calls their real Crew Cab a Mega Cab and so far it only comes with a very short box.
Here are the weight specs on this HD Dodge one Ton compared to my Ford.
Dodge Front Axle 5200 Ford 5600
Dodge Rear Axle 6200 (tires 3195) Ford 7000 (tires3640)
Dodge GVWR 10100 My Ford 11200
Next week I will get a chance to weigh the Dodge and see which truck has the highest payload.
It is interesting to note that a truck is no different than any other rigging or weight support machine in the fact that the weakest link in the system set's the rating. The Dodge's 6200 pound rear axle might be the same axle as my Ford's 7000 pound axle but the lighter tires on the Dodge downgrade the specs.
In my own unique situation, I can put over 6200 pounds on my rear end so this big Dodge is too light for my needs. I am so glad that Ford has a 7000 pound rear axle in a SRW truck. I don't know what the new Chev 3500 SRW has for a rear axle but I hope it matches or beats the Ford. Many Fiver owners want to stay with SRW and the rear axle rating is critical so anyone shopping for a new TV, pay attention to this very important rating and realize with all the front storage and the pin weight of today's rigs, it is very easy to exceed rear axle ratings in a SRW pickup.

Does it have the 6.7L and the new 6 speed auto or the old 5.9L?

I am not sure but it was fairly quiet. I was impressed how solid it felt and how well it steered and braked. Inside the plant, I drive pretty slow and cautious so you can't really try out the power. I will open the hood and see if the engine type is written anywhere. This truck surprized me. I always used to think a Ford felt better than a Dodge. I don't feel that way any more.
The new Dodges are nice trucks and the Dodge Quad Cab is the best extended cab of the bunch. Real back doors and not those unhandy clam shell things that some trucks still have.

I love my Dodge 3500. The ride and the towing are remarkable.
I just recently rode in both a new Chevy and a new Ford. Count me as prejuciced for my truck, but neither of these newer models had the Dodge feel and performace for me...IMHO.

After owning a 2500 chevy, duramax, crew, we now own a Dodge 3500 and it is an impressive truck indeed. Great ride and power, but the steering is so responsive compared to the chevy. The Dodge has a much shorter turning radius as well. Now let's talk about the cab, our's is a mega cab and certainly the roomiest cab to be found. Don't get me wrong, I certainly would consider buying another chevy at some point but the Dodge kicks butt in mainy areas of it's own. The bottom line is the big 3 ALL make pretty good vehicles today and I find it pretty hard to defend being manufacturer biased.

the ford has a built in brake so you don't have to have a after market brake and it works great ,, i have a F250 diesel 4 door shot box with a pullrite hitch , does great with the 3000 RK montana

My Cummins 5.9 loves the Jacobs exhaust brake, makes the comin' downhill real easy. Cummins warranties their engine with the aftermarket Jacobs exhaust brake installed by an authorized dealer.
....and gotta say that we shouldn't start the discussion about which truck is best...AGAIN..., we probably all have been in somebody else's trailer ...and there's no way that we could live in that floor plan...we all have different tastes....'cause like my grandfather once told me about how he bought a car....., "I've tried them all and I have a Cadillac a**.
Guess I could say something similar about mine.

Bert, the cargo capacity of the Dodge is 3030 pounds.
The cargo capacity of my Ford is 3782 pounds.
These are both SRW trucks but the Dodge's 17" tires are rated at 3195 pounds and the 18" tires on my Ford have a 3640 pound rating.
This goes to show you that the tire rating might be the most important rating when deciding on a TV. That is why the F250 comes with 17" tires and the F350 comes with 18" tires on a SRW truck . These 18" tires give my truck 750 pounds of extra payload.
I think this Dodge is a 5.9 Cummins. It has a sticker saying advertised HP at 325. Sure a lot of room to work on the engine, not full house under the hood like a Ford PSD.

According to Dodge the new 6.7 is 50% quieter.
