Trucks

First of all, 2x4 is not a truck. It's a higher clearance car.

I'm sold on Dodge 2500 Mega Cab, short bed, SRW, Diesel.
Also air bag on the rear are real nice.
Anderson hitch makes a big difference as well.
Get it loaded. It cost more $$$ but the Jake Break and automatic trailer brakes are real nice to have especially if you ever get on slick or icy roads.

To answer your survey, I just recently moved from a 2011 Chevy 2500 LT short bed duramax with a couple hundred thousand miles to a new leftover 2019 Chevy 3500 LTZ short bed SWD duramax. I’ll note that both trucks have been virtually trouble free and pull as well as I could expect with Reese 16K. Pulling a 2019 Montana 3121RL that’s has had many troubles but fortunately all have been taken care of under warranty and my time until I just had to replace a $200 Irvine shade.

2019 GMC Denali 4x4 2500 HD

New to driving a diesel and haven't pulled the 5th wheel camper much, but the truck seems to have no trouble so far. The driver is new to a 5th wheel and 13 ft tall camper. Need to go practice backing somewhere.

Unfortunately the GMC "power management system" sends a squirrely signal to the camper running lights, so have not been able to get the Furion backup camera to work. Going to see if I can somehow fish in a clean12V DC connection from the camper battery.

Also need to cut in an "outside" block heater connection on the front bumper or somewhere...

Freightliner FL70 crew cab. Same chassis that Sportchassis uses. 7.2 Cat. Not as much HP and Torque as the new tricks but you cannot beat the exhaust brakes and the heavy duty disk brakes. Moved on from a 40 foot toy hauler to a 3740FK. 8K lighter. Swapped out my G rated tires on the Montana for the H rated from the Toy hauler. Trailer Saver 25k airride hitch.

2019 F-350 DRW 4X4 Crew-cab Platinum with extra heavy front springs and the camera system. I went with the 3.55 gears this time instead of the 4.10’s that I had on my 2018. Sometimes I wish that I would have kept the 4.10’s when towing but solo on the freeways I like the 3.55’s. Oh yeah I pull a Montana 3160 with upgraded Sailon tires. Yes I do 70+ on some freeways.

Happy roads to all of you.

6-speed manual, upgraded to 2009 full steering system, Borgeson steering shaft, Big Wig sway bar front and rear, leaf lockers, Air Bags, straight pipe (not for sound, but I would be lying if I said I don't like it), upgraded intake. No Chip, plenty of hp and torque without.
(18-20 mpg with full exhaust, 20-25 mpg straight pipe) towing 16-17 mpg
Pulling 2015 310RET
