Hi,

My name is Limin Liu. I am a just registered new member. I am from Canada.

I have a 2015 Keystone Mountaineer 331 RLT 5th wheel. I bought it few years ago & plan to use it after retirement but decide to stay working for another 2 to 3 years. So, I do not use it very much now but ......

Hopeful I joined the right group.

If not too much to trouble everyone. I need a help urgently. When I winterize my RV this winter, I found that it seems that my hydraulic motor for slides is burned. If anyone can help me out what is the exact model # of the original motor, It is very much appreciated. The only mark on the motor is 1494A but I do not know what it means.

Please forgive me for that I am totally an alien of mechanical stuffs.

Thanks!!!

Welcome to the group. Very nice group of folks here.

What makes you think your hydraulic motor is bad ?

Hi ScottnSue,

Thank you so much for your reply.

One of my neighbors is a car mechanician. He inspected the motor, fuse, battery etc. & found that the motor is dad. It was heavily smoked before, so I am kind of believing him. However, he told me that he is not a RV mechanician. He could not figure out the model # of the motor.

Then I called some local RV services & was told that they do not do site-services & do not want to tell me anything. I searched online & got great confused --- you know as an old guy with zero knowledge of such thing.

When I bought the 5th 3 years ago, I tried to join the club & found a lot of people with the same interests (RV life) are very helpful like a family. So, I joined the club. Hopeful, starting from now, I can learn from everyone & become a self-sufficient RVer & be able to face the challenges I blindly headed in :-)

Download the Lippert NOW app from Google play store. Lots of good info, manuals, TSB, troubleshooting etc.
Lippert also has excellent help desk support.

There are instructions in there for testing the reversible solenoid and hydraulic pump to determine which one is bad.

You can have the Hydraulic pump rebuilt way cheaper than buying a new one. Link to thread below.

"I discovered an electric motor shop that will rebuild it including rewinding, for $325. two week turn around on the rebuilds. I shipped it Eurton Electric, in Whittier, CA."

The hydraulic pump motor replacement is fairly straight forward. I had done mine a few years back! Mine was on a Keystone 2008 Montana, and I had to hunt for the information plate on the motor. I don't recall if I removed it (the pump) prior to finding the information.

Nonetheless, I was able to find the exact motor via an internet search; and it was a plug and play. I HIGHLY recommend taking pictures of the motor AND the identifying the lines that run to and from the pump AND the switch controller. If you fail to do so, then it is a game of figuring out what went where, which can be a pain - I speak from experience!

When I switched out my pump motor, I changed the tank too.

If time and $$$ permit, have the pump rebuilt, which provides a back-up for you or an emergency replacement if you have a failure on the road.

I am curious though; the pump motors are fairly sound and should run for many years. Do you know what caused it to fail? Even if the motor had remained on, I would think a fuse would have blown before the motor failed.

Anyhow, best of luck..

Cheers

Red face

Hi everyone,

Thanks for you all! I just fixed it yesterday evening by replacing a new motor. Especially, thanks to Lipper Tried twice before it is getting cold again (we got two warm days & all ice/snow were melt) & it seems working well.

Since I joined the club, I am feeling a family environment. I could not wait to meet you guys sometimes in somewhere. I may take another couple of year to retire but if anyone of you come to East Canada (not now! I am serious :-)), please drop by --- I have a big (2.5 acers year) yard & right on the bank of large river. Park few 5ths etc. should be no problem.

A special thanks to a technician from Lippert P who gave me the part # that enable me to find a right one, even I did not pick one from them.

Thanks to Kfinnert. I will try & see if the old one (coil burned out I guess) can be rebuilt --- it seems to have few parts stored is an excellent idea since when the problem come, it takes forever to find one in Canada.

Wish everyone a good RV life.

We have been to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Loved it. We will definitely do that road trip again.

We are in New Brunswick (another province just besides the two provinces you visited) --- the one you seem not visited yet. Fundy National Park should be good place to visit. Summer is usually good season & the weather seems getting better & better here over time.

We stayed at Campground HQ at Fundy NP on our way up. Visited Hopewell Rocks.
One of our members keeps their Montana permanently at a Campground near 5 Islands. We visited with them when we were there.
