Water Pump

When I turn on my water pump, it pumps the water out of my city water connection. I'm I doing something wrong?

Welcome to the MOC. When connected to city water do not turn on the water pump.

I'm not connected to city water. Trying to pump from the fresh water tank. When I turn the water pump on it pumps water out of the city connection.

Martin,

First, welcome to the forum!

Sounds like the check valve in your water pump has failed.

Are you flipping the valve from "fill" to the normal run position or are you leaving it on "fill". If you leave it on "fill".... don't. Flip it to the normal run position. "Fill" is ONLY for filling. After filling, flip the valve back immediately.

Isn't there a check valve in the input water connector? I seem to remember it sticking open. Or am I dreaming, again.

You're right, Carl. There should be a check valve on the city water input side as well as on the pump input side.

There is a check valve in the city water port.
Take it out and verify it was put in correctly (not reversed). If that's good put a plug in the port until you replace the check valve.

City water connection

I had water coming out of my city water also when I was on the pump. The check valve in the connection failed. I put a plug in until I could replace the connection. After replacement everything worked fine. Easy to replace.

With the sytem pressurized by the pump, remove the screen inside the fitting where your hose makes up to. Then using something soft like a pencil eraser, stick it in the hole and press on the small piece inside the fitting. That is the check valve. By pressing on it, you may dislodge some dirt. Oh, and expect to get wet. Remember to put the screen back in. Do not run off city water unless the screen is on.
