2016 ram-pucks-3120 hitch height ?
I have a 2016 ram 2500 with the factory puck system, and am trying to figure out if the Curt 20 series is tall enough. My BIL has his 2020 Ram 2500 / b&w set at 17 3/4 above the bed to get his trailer level, but every trailer can make a difference, and I am not sure of his rail clearance. All Curt could tell me is, no we don't have a taller hitch. I am leaning towards the B&W due to it's higher ability, plus I see it can have the pin hole move back behind the axle center ( but realize centered is better for the truck).
My truck does have an extra inch higher than factory due to taller tires. I also see the Curt I can use is maxed out at 17". I am sure it is ok, but it looks weaker being the side "wings" were not, IMHO, designed for the top pattern due to marginal side contact with the head assembly.
I am wanting a minimum of 6" bed clearance, more is better if the trailer is level. Curious if those having this truck-trailer combo are wanting a taller hitch than 17", or is this combo working well for you?
I searched several pages plus used the search feature, with no real help with my questions.
Thank you
Allen

My experience has been the opposite with my 17 Ford F350... Andersen with lowest in bed hitch setting with ample bed rail clearance and still trailer sat nose high. I went with 1.5" lowering blocks in the rear of the truck to get the fiver more level. The bed side height (bed to top of bed rail) is 1" taller than my 2000.
I had a Curt Q20 attached to bed rails on a 2000 F350 before the Andersen ... the bed rails set the Curt about 1.25" above the bed itself. In total, I had 17.25" total height. Of course with the puck system, there will be no 1.25" rail height. In my opinion, the Curt is built "Hell for Stout" no matter which mounting holes are used.
In your case, you could always adjust the pin box down should you need more clearance. With the newer trucks sitting way too tall, your taller tires, fiver model ... getting the fiver level will be issue #1. Unless you get someone with the same overall setup ... other opinions will vary.

Thank you
I agree, I need a person with a 2016 to probably 2019? ram 2500 and a Curt puck mount hitch to answer my question.
All replies welcome, and thanked, but the real question I have is will my combo work, or do I need the taller B&W hitch.
I moved my dad's 05 Montana a month or so ago, and found out my truck is way too tall to trailer it properly, and pretty much why we ordered a new 3120 over even trying dads trailer out for a weekend. My simple calculation is his trailer is 4" too low for my Ram, but dad's 06 Chevy tows it pretty level.
Thanks
Allen

Dropped by the local Gander RV this afternoon. There was a 3231 sitting level (I measured frame to ground both ends) for show in the parking lot. Distance from bottom of Roto Flex hitch to ground was 52". With some measuring of your truck, and some figuring, you may be able to get an idea of your situation. Figure on 2-3" of squat for your truck as rule of thumb.

Thanks so much,
I can figure this out now.
The bed at the bumper is 39" from the floor, probably 38" at the axle ( tailgate end is 40" but they have that cap)
Thank you
Allen

Looks like , with 2" sag calculated, around 16" will be my hitch height above the bed.
Etrailer says the Ram system A20 is 14-18" ( other places show 17"- and Curt told me 17") so with my airbags I can adjust if needed.
Perfect, you saved me $$$
Thank you
