I've used Motorcraft in the past, but now use only Shell Rotella synthetic.

Up until the last change, used the Motorceaft diesel oil. Changed over to Shell Rotella T5 Semi synthetic now that Ford upped their price from 89 then 99 and now 139 bucks. Back to a DIY project. I also bought an oil filter 'wrench' to replace the one that finally 'died' after 40+ years of many uses. This is the correct size for a Motorcraft/Ford6.7 oil filter - Lisle 61580 93mm 15-Flute End Cap Wrench Setand is less then 7 bucks

I get a regular coupon from my local large Ford dealer for $89.99 oil and filter change for the truck .And $8.99 for my wife's gas Expedition. For those prices it is not worth it to me any more to do it myself. So I just let them do it with whatever they use. Been doing that for many years and never a problem with any engine using oil or any kind of oil related failure.

We all wont to put the best oil in our vehicles and synthetic is but do we really need it. Most people don’t use synthetic and their vehicles last just fine. I never drive a vehicle much over 100,000 miles so I certainly don’t need it.

There's alot of years of Powerstrokes whether it be 7.3, Sick-O, or 6.7. I use Rotella T4 in my 2000 7.3. I do my own changes as locally a 2.5 gal jug costs $32, a gallon jug costs $13, and a Motorcraft filter at Wally World is @$9.50. @$50 for my 7.3 vs. $90 - $100 at the dealer. For newer Powerstrokes, the filter is half again the price at WW and full synthetic also costs more.

Shell Rotella T4. If it's good enough for the truckers, and they are running many more miles than I am, it's good enough for me. I've put it in a Detroit Diesel, a Cummins, a Duramax and a Yanmar....did fine in all of them.

Yanmar I’ve got one of them. It’s Green and yellow just like a John Deere but it’s a Yanmar that looks like a Deere. Great 40 horse tractor.

Yeah I just went to Walmart and got the Rotella synthetic. Figured I might as well try to do it right.

Lynwood - you have the bigger Yanmar - mine is the little 26HP Green/Yellow or I have to grab the dinosaur Case 580SE, talk about a switch

Why would you use anything but Motorcraft oil? it's garroted to work in your engine. Nothing to look up. No question in the back of your mind if its good for your truck. I just wouldn't go cheap on oil. I only use full synthetic oil. Never use a blend.

There's nothing wrong with the 10W30 Ford offers for the 6.7. The engine was engineered using this oil. You don't need synthetic, you don't need Mobil 1. Just use the Motorcraft XO.10W30.QSD Ford suggests and you'll be fine. I have a 2013 6.7 and have used nothing but Motorcraft with zero issues. I've worked on these vehicles for 37 years and the 6.7 since 2011. No reason to use anything other than MC lubes.

Rotella meets or exceeds Ford oil spec with the T5 and T6, something I researched before I went DIY with this truck
