The only place I had trouble with my dually was bank drive throughs and car washes. So glad I went back to SRW.

That's new one to me... certainly doable but it seems rather expensive when you can get it from the factory already configured and warranteed.

Having said all that, you'll get argument from both sides... let the SRW DRW war begin again...

We have a 3500 DRW and are looking at 3810/3811MS (40+ feet) I would not consider anything less than a dually.
We have a 3811MS Legacy, tows quite nice behind our SRW
Last scale was, 24040# combined, 16400# trailer, 2900# pin traveling weight

I have had both. Just recently downsized from 43' to 41'. The new 3761 FL makes all numbers and pulls great with my 2016 f350 4x4 SRW. Floor plan makes a difference. This one has a ton of rear storage and the washer and dryer are behind the axels. Never going back to the PIA called DRW.

Over past 30 years have had SRW and DRW trucks. Just do the math with your weight limits. Remember if your over and you have an incident, you get the pleasure of the additional pink slip from the officer at the scene. If you travel in Nevada near Reno, I know from experience they like to pull over and test vehicles. Be legal, be safe and have fun with your RV.

Also from knowing your rig. First time I scaled it we were 3200+ on the pin.
Relocation of items, and carrying a moderately filled fresh water tank to balance it.

I have scaled it 3 times now to get it figured out. but tows great now, the final item was installing an air pin box to take the bump shock out of the truck.

From what I've read, the 2018 GMC CGWVR for 3500 SRW is 23100. You may be good on pin but over on combined. Looking at your last pix, the trailer is also not level... what are your trailer axle weights, especially the rear? if you shifted pin weight aft.... I'd be curious on those trailer axle weights.

We expect to be heavier than you.

We have a 2016 F350 PSD Crew SB our rowing Payload is 3307 and max towing is 15,700, we also have a 2018 Montana 3121RL Dry weight is 12,000 pin is 2385.

If I was towing anything bigger then mine I would only go for a dually, I am loaded and under my payload and towing max however anymore weight and I would switch to a dually.

We looked at the 3791 and 3721 and I couldn’t tow it with my SRW truck. Well I could tow it but would not be legal.

The Dually gives you more capacity and piece of mind, I only have trouble on windy days and causes me to tow at slowe speeds other than that any Dually from either of the big 3 would be better

You seem to be towing nose high, I would look at adjusting your hitch to lower your nose but this is just my opinion

I pull a 40’ 3720 legacy. Traded up to DRW from SRW. Will never go back. So, so much more stable.

I have similar to E_Rod, a 2017 F350 SRW, 6.7l Diesel, 6’9” box and pull a 40’ Montana. As E Rod said , the New Super Duties are great, any bigger tho and the only way to unlock the extra capacity of the F350 is with DRW. I use mine as a daily driver and it fits in the garage ( a DRW would not), very nice. Pulling through mountains and with wind is no issue.

There is always debate on this but it is a matter of math and if you want any extra safety factor. I also know we will never be loaded to the hilt so im comfortable with the leeway we have.

I've been pulling 40-41 foot Montana's with a 2011 F350 6.7 SB since 2013. Absolutely no problems. Alaska to AZ. Pulls easy on all the passes on that trip and through the Rockies.

I pulled our 37’ 16,000# DRV with both a srw and a dually. Did not notice much if any difference pulling it through NM, TX, LA, OK, WI, VA, MN, IN, OH, SD, ND, WY, CO, MO, and a bunch of states I cannot remember. Had a 50 gallon tank in the bed so when it was full, I was a tad overweight with the SRW. Fine with the dually. I prefer the SRW as it is my daily driver when not on the road for 6 months a year. I don’t pull my DRV anymore but have a 14k# Monty I pull with my Ford diesel F250.

Is our SRW ok or do we need to put a dually kit on it?

We see 50/50 on the highways pulling the 41' Rvs...SRW/DRW
I pull a 41 ft Montana 3810MS Legacy. I like the stability that I get with my dual wheels, plus it looks good

Haven't seen this either in my 34 years in the state. Commercial trucks are pulled over and checked but I haven't seen scales come out.

Tire size?

I have the 285s now at 3840# per tire. I'm upsizing here shortly when the current set wears out to get the extra capacity. My truck is paid for and I have no desire to get a DRW truck anytime soon and start over with the payments. Would it be nice, yes and no.
I have a 1995 dodge 2500 with a manual 5 speed.
They come with a Dana 80 rear axle. SRW,With over load and airbags. My tire are 34”. That’s the biggest I can run. My tire are rated 3195 pounds
18” rims. I would consider buying different size rims and tires just don’t know which ones for the best weight ? Just weighed my truck with out trailer.
3640 pounds with 40 gallons fuel tank and toolbox
Leaves me about 2740 box weight.
Your thoughts on a 18” tire that will get me around 3800 or more.
Are truck has been heavy modified cummins
Not going to upgrade. We are not living in it just a few months here and there. Thanks Rich

I ask a state police here in Va if they ever checked RVs. He looked at me I was an idiot. No we don’t check RVs. They might in other states but not in Virginia.
