Furnace won’t ignite

Hey everyone.

I have an Atwood AFMD 35131 Furnace.

When I turn the thermostat on I either get cool air blowing (instead of hot) or it just shuts off.

Circuit board has no blinking lights indicating “Internal Control Failure”. What does this mean to me? I tried cleaning up the circuit board the best I could but it already looked pretty clean. I also checked the sail switch which was clean.

Do I just need a new circuit board? Easy enough for a novice to complete?

Thanks!

You don't say what year rig you have. When our 2017 had that problem last winter the sail switch needed to be replaced. They had a batch of bad ones and never told anyone. I had thought it was a control board also, but replacing that didn't fix it, replacing the sail switch did.

Thanks. I did look over the manual. Just not sure how to proceed.
I guess I need a volt meter if I’m going to further diagnose.

Update to close thread.

Pulled the burner out and it was significantly corroded.
Cleaning it up with a wire brush and it is now igniting and running perfectly.

I noticed water in the furnace when I took the cover off.

I had a bug screen on over the exhaust. I’m now learning these screens can promote the entry of water into the exhaust, leading to my issue.

Thanks for the replies guys.

There are several other treads addressing water in those atwood furances. Shearch the forum.

I've always had bug screens on my furnace(s) and never a problem with water entering. BTW it is helpful for people to have year, make, and floorplan to help in the future. Might want to add a signature with this information.

Good job. Thanks for the follow up. None of us figured on that to be the fix.

Others have made covers for the furnace vent. I did the same.
