RV RR My Latest
I thought you might like to see what I have been doing for the past several months. RV actually stands for Rowe Valley - the name of our little town. Ed is in charge of the track and trains and I build the structures and highways and landscaping. It is N scale which is really, really small. We have a police building, fire department, City Hall, Post office, Drug Store, Sporting Goods, Beauty Shop, Barber Shop, Bank (with an ATM), Hardware Store, Grocery Store, Lumber Yard, John Deere store, Medical center, Cafe, Apts., Hotel, Theater, Farm, 7 homes (all which have pets and mail boxes),Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, hobo camp, campground, vineyard with wine tasting, a church with graveyard and of course a depot. The barn and silo are scratch built - my first. We will be in Benson, AZ this winter if anyone wants the grand tour.
Happy trails.......................

Sue,
My grandfather was a conducter on a railroad in Illinois. He was also a train collector. You are bringing back some great memories from my few visits with my grandparents at their house. I got to ride on one of his trains called the Zepher... he called out "All a board"....I had to be smiling from ear to ear.
Thanks for the post.

Sue, With the ATM, I knew the Dollar was shrinking but... Only kidding. It LOOKS GREAT! We have a number of Garden RR here in Oregon, there is a lot of work that goes into your setup, and it shows.

That looks great; what do you do with it when you travel?

Sue, a nice town you have there, I'm glad you included your old pal Jimmey Buffett.
That is a very detailed and well thought out project.

Thanks guys. To answer the question about travel. The train board sets on the dining table and because in the 3400 the island butts up against the table, it doesn't move. The card table folds up and lays on the bed.
We will probably be at the Cochise Terrace in Benson.
Happy trails.............................

Sue and Ed-
Beautiful work. And what a great hobby!
Any plans for a RV park on the outskirts of town?

Denise, to answer your question, there is not much available in the way of RV's in N scale. We do have one MH on the highway and a campground with tent campers. N scale is kind of the odd ball in model railroading so we really have to hunt for supplies.

Glad to see another Railroader. I am in the planning stage for a mobile N scale. I want to use modules which will transport in a smaller area. Your layout looks nice with the Alaska Loco pulling the freight. Did you know that Alaska RR uses diesel railcars (RDS) on the mainline for passenger service. They work well on small roads like yours. Congratulations! Bob

Another tidbit about the Alaska Railroad. It is the only RR left in America that has "Flag Stops" Where you actually flag down the train and it will stop and pick you up. At least that is what they claim. I have actually seen them do this on the trip from Anchorage to Denali.
Sue, You need some snow for that village, with the Alaska power anyway......
By the Way: You guys have done a beautiful job.....Looks like time to pass it on to a son or grandkid and start on another one....
