LEAKING COMMODE & WATER IN BASEMENT

FYI TO EVERYONE. WE'VE BEEN FIGHTING A LEAK FROM OUR COMMODE FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS IT LEAVE A TRACK OF WATER AROUND THE COMMODE AND LEAK INTO THE BASEMENT. OUR DEALER SENT A TECH OUT THREE TIMES, WE CHECKED ALL THE WATER SUPPLY LINES AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. WE FINALY PULLED THE COMMODE, THERE WAS A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF SAWDUST AND DEBRIS AROUND THE SEAL/FLANGE. AFTER THROUGHLY CLEANING THE AREA AND INSTALLING A NEW SEAL THE LEAK IS GONE.

From my stick house plumbing experiences, I might have guessed a seal problem. Just got through redoing a potty for the house. Sort of rebuilt it from the ground (or wax ring) up. That cured my pesky dribble leak and improved total operation. A potty is a potty and plumbing is plumbing in stick house or RV. Glad you got it stablized.

FYI, my wife is a United Space Alliance employee in Shuttle support. She retires on June 1, 2005, after 28 years..

We had the same problem, a new seal did the trick.
