2007 3400 Bathroom fan motor
I am trying to locate a replacement motor for my 2007 3400 small fan in the bathroom. I bought one form CW only to find out it was a slightly larger casing and therefore it will not mount back in the bolt holes for the mounting bracket. I returned it.
I called the dealership and low and behold, they have now changed the assembly and they cannot get that smaller 12v motor anymore. They suggested replacoing the entire vent and bracket assembly. My response, "Just because I need that little motor???" (I still have the fan blade).
Someone HAS to have a source for that universal bathroom vent fan motor that was put in all Montanas for several years? Anyone have any source for this? They are nuts if they think I am ripping out and re-installing that bathroom vent just because I can't find a little 1 inch diameter 12v motor...

Dave,
I know that some folks have changed out the fan motor with a much quieter fan built for computers. I do not know if the bolt holes lined up or not. Maybe someone who has actually replaced it will come along and share with us.
Good luck.

I've used a computer case fan. I used one existing hole and had to drill one new hole. Took all of about 15 minutes to do the whole job.

I have a Fantastic in the bathroom but I do know a number of RVers that have replaced that noisy fan with a computer fan. You can get them at Radio Shack.
ON EDIT--- This Might Help

Dave, They are available as I have bought two. On the casing of your fan there is a name of the manufacturer. I looked them up on the internet and called them to order the motor. It helps to have the old motor in hand to get the numbers off of it. Sorry I couldn't find my last invoice from them. I put it in that safe place....

Thanks, guys. Very helpful.
I have already purchased a computer fan for my AV cabinet above my TV from RS. I thought of this, also. However, this also involves a mod that wouldn't be necessary if I just had the right motor to just quickly and simply screw back into place and press the fan blade back into place.
If I do something later, it will probably be a lowest version, manual Fantastic Vent.
Thanks for the pics, Glenn!

Thanks, Al! Got it! Checking...
Still checking...
*On Edit~ As I thought... Have to take my vent cover off to check the model # & mfr on that motor. Tried to see it through the screen - no way. Wife is going make me mow the lawn first before my "playtime"...
I'll sneak away - tell her I am working on the mower, or something like that. Not sure how I will explain how being on top to the Montana is "working on the mower" yet, but I'll figure something out... (Maybe "scoping out missed spots on the lawn, Honey...")?
If anyone - not mowing their lawn - has easy access to that 2007 or before fan motor model number & mfr. I would be grateful...

Dave, we replaced ours. Our rv dealer told me to pull it out and bring it in so they can match it. They had three different motors in stock and had the one I needed. Once you get the screen out of the way, just pull the fan off the motor. Then remove the two (three?) screws holding the motor in place and pull the wire connectors off. The toughest part is removing the screen and shroud and that's not really difficult.

Just looked (finished all my chores). This is a Philips Prod Ventline assembly. Fan is a 13.6v 1.2 amp. The one sold at CW does not have these specs - can't remember now what they were, but they were different. The newer CW motor alsowas bigger and did not fit into the bracket.

Dave, yours and ours are just a few months difference in age. I'd bet your rv dealer has the part. As noted in my prior post, it's an easy install.

Steve, I called my nearest dealership and they said they didn't carry that any more. I might try another dealership without an attached Camping World store...
I have had that motor on and off a few times now. It is an easy removal and install. Even though I have a vent cover, 4 nuts and it comes right off. Only word of caution... do not switch the wires accidentally. A 12v fan still runs that way - only in reverse. Not very effective removing bad air if you know what I mean...
