Christmas in the Military
Dear MOC friends. I know that I get a little soft around the holidays and I always hope not to offend anyone. I spent 19 Christmases away from home and my loved ones, I was a Platoon Sgt during both my tours in Vietnam and a First Sgt. in the middle east, without a doubt the best present we could have ever received was encouraging news from home whether from the hometown newspapers that some received or letters from friends and loved ones. Regrettably the newspapers received were full of negatives, I would burn mine rather than trouble the troops with the garbage. The Army Chaplains were a tremendous spource of strength and pictures of courage they were right where we were holding services and singing Christmas songs. Please pray for them that they will not think we have abandoned them. I think you would be quite surprised if you could see their faces light up at the news of rallys supporting them posted in the Stars and Stripes Newspaper.
