We've made it to Palmer and have been invited to stay in the Moose Lodge parking lot. How appropriate to be in Alaska and stay in the woods with the Mooses! We met a nice couple who are in the process of deciding on a Montana and going fulltime and they are members here. We'll be here a day or so and then on to the Kenai Peninsula.

Tammy, I think we're going to Homer first and then coming back up to Seward. Does that sound like a good plan?

Works for us! Call us when you get here! Be sure to fill up the truck in Soldotna or Kenai on your way over to Seward. You'll save a few cents per gallon if you do. And fill up in Anchorage before you head down to the Peninsula to save some more! Be safe!

For all those traveling in Alaska and looking for good diesel/gas prices. We discovered yesterday (we're in Palmer) that the Carr's grocery stores are associated with Safeway. We used our Safeway card and can get 10 cents fuel reduction at their pumps. The store here does not have fuel, but the one in Eagle River, just north of Anchorage does. Hope to check it out before we leave on Sunday. Tammy and Bernie, do you know if there are Carr's stores with fuel in your area or on the Homer side?

There is not a Carrs Fuel station in Seward, but if you spend more than $50 on groceries at the Carr's grocery store here, you will still get your $0.10 off per gallon at any Carr's station. The western side of the Kenai has no Carrs fuel stations either. As far as I know, you'll only be able to get Carr's gas in Anchorage or Eagle River (the closest suburb north of Anchorage).

In Indian, Alaska (between Anchorage and Girdwood) is an Essential 1 station (on your left, heading south). You won't get a discount, but they do have pretty cheap gas considering. It is much, much cheaper than the Essential 1 in Seward.

FYI: Gas in Seward is $4.95 and diesel is $5.58 - at all 3 stations, Chevron, Shell & Essential 1.

On edit: I don't know if y'all are familiar with http://alaskagasprices.com/. You can enter the location you want, or the station you want throughout the state and see the latest gas prices. Might be helpful.
