I just stumbled into this and thought it would make an interesting topic for discussion.
What your thoughts? Is this a good idea or not? Anyone have experience with this product:

Just looked at it yesterday, rather pricey like thousands of dollars, depending on the output level you pick. From their web site:

Clever. Unique. Innovative. And the 2nd video answered my first question about how they would handle wind...apparently fairly well.
The add on cost for the OEM to offer that kind of solar wattage is also thousands of dollars so not surprising that it's expensive.
Like any other new idea, time will tell. They will have to be able to offer a variety sizes which will likely translate into a variety of wattage packages. They will also need to show some kind of real world durability. They aren't in production yet so it will be interesting to see if the OEM's attempt any early adoption.

I very seldom leave my awnings out for fear a winds kicking up. I would not buy in, you can put the same amount of solar on the roof.

Solar awning
Ya, I don't think so. I could see it ripping off the sidewall of the RV! I dont keep awnings out in the wind. I DO have 1400watts of panels on the roof. No worries about wind, we torture tested them in South Dakota this fall with 50mph gusts and 40 sustained winds. The wife thought the 5th wheel would roll on its side, we were definitely rockn and rolln.

When you design something you should always ask yourself why? and then why not? I can’t think of any reason for why and a lot for why not. Whoever designed this should have ask why not and this would have never seen the light of day.

Expensive, and I'd hate to see the cost of replacing that awning when a windstorm rips it off your rig. But if money is no concern, why not.
