California Highway 20 or 299

We are heading home and are trying to avoid the mountain passes between California and Oregon and want to cross over from I5 to 101 and wonder which of these routes is best for us pulling a 40 ft 5th wheel. Thanks Michael

Assuming you are going north on I-5 to get towards OR, I usually use Hwy-20 to get over to Hwy-101. I believe Hwy-299 is also doable but I haven't gone that way in a long time. But before you commit to using Hwy-101 (whichever Hwy you use to get to it), check the road conditions on Hwy-101. I believe there have been several slides along that route which may or may not affect your ability to get through to OR (or beyond).
