If you have a meter and a ladder, look at the top forward awningvarm assembly. You should be able to see the 12vdc connector that powers the awning motor. If you unplug it, you should be able to see 12vdc coming out of the rv when someone operates the switch. You also should be able to connect a small 12vdc source to the part of the connection that goes into the awning tube to see if the motor operates.
