propane connection for outside BBQ grill

So while I was sitting on a stool putting air in my Monty tires, I saw what looks like a capped off propane line behind the tires on the trailer on the door side of the coach. I'm guessing that's so you can put a quick disconnect propane connector on it and go buy a BBQ grill with that feature. Is this a job for me? I'm guessing once you have the quick disconnect connector and some Teflon tape you just get your wrench out and screw it on. Anything more than that?

Also recommendations on good grills that are easy to store and work with quick disconnect hoses would be appreciated.

Actually you should use tape made for gas applications ... it is yellow instead of white. You also need to see if the line is before or after your onboard regulators as many grills have their own regulators that don't play well with an already regulated line.

I looked at the gas line on mine. It is after the regulator, so if you connect a grill, you will have to by pass the grill regulator

I have a real stupid question: Are you sure it's a capped off propane line?? As right in that general area is the winch shaft that lowers and raises the spare tire. Are you sure that isn't what you saw??
Not trying to insult anyone, but just asking.

I have something like this on the right side propane tank.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_i=507846

I found one that had been returned (not at Amazon), and I got it for $10.00. I have been using it for 2.5 years, no problems.

My spare tire shaft to lower the tire is right behind my rear tire on the passenger side, and looks like a capped off gas pipe. Not sure if that's what you are seeing.

You should not have to use teflon tape of any kind when using the correct quick connect propane connectors. As for safety, when the quick connects get disengaged the propane flow gets shut off too, unless it is defective. Use a soapy solution to test for leaks. If you see bubbles, then worry. NEVER use a match or any kind of flame or spark to test for leaks.

You may have something there. It may have been wishful thinking on my part. I remember looking at a SOB that already had the quick disconnect on it. What I saw could have been the crank for lowering the spare tire. Next time I'm at the trailer, I'll crawl under and see where that pipe goes.

Now I have to see how to add the propane line for the gas grill if it's not that line.

The quick disconnect is generally attached to a pipe nipple, that is where the Teflon tape goes

I'm jealous! My BS doesn't have one! LOL! We
Have a Weber Q and find it very convenient. We just use the small green bottles. Makes it easy to move the grill to a convenient place no matter what the site is like. There is a fitting sold at CW to refill the small bottles.

I was able to install just the line you are talking about. Just unscrew the pipes after the regulator to the point you want to go across the trailer and install a "T", then put all the piping you removed back together. I say that because the regulator is on the left side and all the cooking, awning and such is on the right side. I ran the pipe from left to right just behind the landing gear where I had support points. Camping World makes a quick connect kit with a built in shutoff for addes safety and piece of mind.

I use a Weber Q100. Just removed the regulator and put a propane rated hose of the desired length (I used a 10' section of hose) with the male fitting on the end. No issues, close calls or dangerous incidents in the 4 years I've had this setup. I just turn off the built in valve when I'm finished BBQing

I did what 7.3Ford did. The T attaches to one of the propane tanks and the supplied hose runs from the T to the BBQ. Whatever BBQ you buy will need to have it's own regulator.

Be careful with this type of run as everything to the BBQ is high pressure. Other ideas all use the low pressure side.
