We have had Doran Pressure Pro on our SunnyBrook and will transfer them to our new Montana, I too like the security of knowing the pressure in the trailer tires. Tire pressure can drop suddenly and it is difficult to monitor tires through a mirror.

W e have a Doran. Works very well and has saved me problems twice in the last year. Nice display and easy to program. Tech support is very good.

Thanks everyone for your input. I purchased the TST 510 and have made one trip. Should have purchased a system like this years ago. Well live and learn something new every day.

Installed the transmitters on the Monty with metal valve stems. Still have to get metal stems on the TV.

I also suggest not buying the Hawkshead. The system is not reliable and there is not any customer service. One month after the warranty expired the Hawkshead TPMS started to intermittently malfunction. I contacted the Hawkhead office, and they said they cannot do anything for me other than selling me a new monitor for $125.00. There is not any customer service at Hawkshead.

New questions: What metal valve stem are you using with your tire monitoring systems? My 06 3500RL has metal stems but pop in rubber at the base. Are you using all metal bolt on type stems? Is there a brand or style better than others?

After reading these posts from the voices of experience, it's got me to thinking that a monitoring system is a good idea. Now I'm shopping! Thanks everyone!

I say just as important in my opinion. Towing this much weight, you don't want to lose control with your tow vehicle. There is a lot of weight in the bed, the faster you know about a low tire, the better. Besides, if you've invested in a system, adding four or six monitors is not that much more cost wise.

So you know you have a low tire, now how do you fill it? The nearest truck stop or is there a dc portable compresser with a cord long enough to reach the 5 wheel tires?

A lot of guys use a 12v compressor. There is usually a 12v plug in the basement which will get you a lot closer to the trailer tires. You can also buy a portable air tank and keep it filled. Or, if you have a generator, you can of course use an AC compressor.
