2000 watt genny maybe

Ok, I want a 3100 watt but at 70 with a back broken in 1968 about 100# is too much to handle.
I have a 50amp to 30 cord bought (never used) for emergencies. Using that to a 30 to 15 dog bone would plug into a 2000 watt Champion inverter genny. That SOUNDS LIKE it should charge the batteries and kkep them charged and not much else, but would be enough. I can handle that 50# weight. SHOULD work on cold nights to keep the furnace running.
Forget the $1000 Honda in favor of the $500 Champion.
Will it work or will there be potential problems?
Of course 2000 watts should power a battery charger not sure I want to go that way.
